Back on the 30th August, (Bank Holiday) I foolishly decided to take a ride over the Hardknott Pass, big mistake, it was so busy it was stop - start for a lot of the route but still a good route to do and very challenging at the best of time. I've got to admit it was a bit daunting.
It was a round trip of just over 200 miles. From Bradford out to Skipton, through Kirby Lonsdale where there must have been a few hundred bikers at the usual meeting place at Devils Bridge. I didnt bother stopping, I'd rather be riding than chewing the fat with load of sports bike riders, straight on towards Kendal and into Windermere and then Ambleside before going off the beaten track towards Wrynose and Hardknott Pass.

Hardknott Pass, Cumbria     Enjoy the video.

A few pics of the route through Ambleside and into Wrynose Pass, not quite as bad as Hardknott Pass!!

Going over Hardknott Pass from Ambleside direction you will eventually get to this pub, its a good spot to stop, gather your thoughts and look back and up at the route and the descent you have just dropped down. Some of the inclines are a staggering 1 in 3 gradient with hairpin bends and cambers like you have never imagined!!
I would not want to do it in the wet ;D

The pictures are great ... What a lovely area of GB you live in up there ! Look forward to checking out the video later ... How long was the ride ? Mileage ? Time ?

Lord Rusty, the ride was about 200 miles but I went onto a place called Ravenglass on the coast after I'd worked my way down the mountain. I was out about two thirds of the day, I like to take it steady when I'm on a ride like this and enjoy the scenery.

Wow, parking must have been expensive for this shot. I am sure you were OK for the 20 feet, but 5hp maximum?  ;D

I dont know why but for some reason when I put this original post on I seem to have short changed you all. Sorry folks. Well I've just been looking through the folder with the photos in from this trip and thought I'd share them with you at this time of year to try and cheer everyone up, especially Nygie who hasn't even had a good run on his new GTR since he bought it. Shame on him.  :)
