Stupid question I know (but I'll ask anyway).. Is there a relatively simple and inexpensive way of lowering the overall seat height.  While the current height is manageable, I think I would be a little more comfortable with a few more mm to play with (my missus once said something like that as well  :embarrassed:)

resisting temptation to suggest running tyres at 36 PSI ;)

Take the seat off and carefully strip it down/sculpt it?

If you dont want to chop your seat down then a lowering kit may be your cheapest option.See link. There are a few seats out there to be had but are expensive.Ive been through 2 of them mainly for comfort and settled for the standard 2016 .  http://www.lustracing.co.uk/suspension/kawasaki-gtr1400-lowering-kit.html

O.C.

another option would be to find or have a seat remodelled that is slightly narrower at the front thereby enabling the rider to improve foot positioning onto the ground whilst on the bike

Thanks Guys - Lowering kit it is then - probably followed by a seat re-sculpture (Tony Archer) if required.

You need some 1970's platform footware , easy 2 inch taller ,  :mfr_lol:

Be aware depending on how low you go with the links you might have to alter the stands

I knew saving them would come in useful at some point.  All I need to do is figure out what I'm going to do with the flares and cheesecloth shirts.

I think there are a few kits out there with different drops.Do a search for gtr and concours 14 (c14) Usa version.Havent lowered mine but i believe some have cut the stands down. to make it easier to lift. You may be ok.Oh and dont forget to drop the forks as you will throw its geomety out.

A genuine Kawasaki Gel seat will probably be in excess of 400 pounds, and they can be hard on yer arse... you could look for a Top Sellerie seat which is very comfortable and will cost a little less, if you are lucky you may find such a seat available on E-bay alternatively you will need a seat base to send to Top Sellerie seats and they will make one up for you

Check E,bay as there are lots of different models/styles to choose from    [/color]

From the Kawasaki site:
25mm lower and 20mm narrower than standard gives increased security during low speed manouvers. Individual gel rider and passenger gel pads warmed by body heat improves weight distribution for greater comfort.

And to you £300, as you are close enough to collect

Be interested if its perfect condition and it helps sufficiently.  Could I pop over (wherever that may be) and have gander?

Johnboss, Could you tell me how tall you are please? I'm 5 foot 8 and am wondering whether I might struggle with paddling the gtr around.
