I've dropped a small screwdriver down the inner fairing whilst 'messing around' with the bike.
It's dropped down under the glove box (which I had removed) down towards the indicator area.
I can't see it.
Is there a way of getting into the fairing from underneath or does it have to come to pieces?

I've used one of the telescopic magnets with success when I dropped a bolt  :whistling:
It saved me removing any fairing

Yep that would be my suggestion too......short of picking up the bike, holding it upside down and giving it a good shake

I've recovered my lost screwdriver.
It's certainly not a straight forward method taking the fairing apart.
The workshop manual link above is for the older bike and it's slightly different to the newer bike fairing.
How does the lower fairing 'quick rivet' work? The one where the fairings join together behind the front wheel. I don't want to force it and break anything.
And the self tapping screw joining the outer to the inner skin under where the coolant bottle is located. What a joke! You can't get your screwdriver in because of the hose with the spring protection on it. I managed it after a lot of swearing using a 90° philips. I'm going to replace it with a hex head self tapper so I can get a rachet spanner on it instead.

quick rivets are usually easily opened by pushing the central pin inwards, the whole rivet can then be removed

Replacement is by pulling the central pin out of the rivet pushing the rivet body back into place and pressing the central pin home

The one securing the fairings together are a different design Rog

They may have changed, but on mine there are two forward facing rivets (one above the other) on the lower front fairing joint which have a recess into which you can place the flat blade of  a screwdriver and they simply pop out...there is another quick rivet located underneath the front lower fairing which can be opened as I described above

Maybe the securing  method  has been changed

Yes they're the ones.
They are the same as mine.
I tried the tactic of prising off with a screwdriver, but you know how it is when it doesn't release as you expect it to, you wonder if you are doing it right and whether if you carry on if you're gonna break the bloody thing!
I can't say I find the pdf workshop manual very explicit.

I checked mine out as I was worried that I'd left the wrong info, TBH the two forward facing stud clips opened extremely easily, if you lie under the bike with a torch you will see how they attach....a bit like a rawlpug idea ...well sort of

Thanks for the info.
Just changed mine for LEDs so I hopefully won't have to do that again.
