Hi All
I'm literally just back from 2500 miles in a week in Europe. Great time however the heat coming from the bike onto my knees is just painful!! I thought they'd cured this on the Gen 2!  Mine is a 2010 with (now) 35000 miles in. Serviced after every trip etc. Well cared for...
Yes it's been hot in Europe this last week. 32degreees but the sheer heat off the. Ike into my legs was awful.  I mean like crazy hot. So much so I don't want to take it again. I want to trade it for another bike.
The coolant was right. Level fine. Even riding at 85 it was showing 3 bars and the fans on regularly
Sort of spoiled the trip TBH.
Disgruntled GTR owner.
The rads seen better days I must admit but it's not leaking and has only a few lower curlered fins.
What do I do!!!

Can't say what to do but when I have travelled in extreme heat I have never had that much on my legs, yes the bars go to three and fan comes on but never that much heat, also done 30,000 miles.

Not sure what the answer is.

Ducati owner now but I used to have a Black one, the fastest version.
Previous, Sprint ST (2), VFR 800, Fireblade's (4) SP1, VTR1000, GPZ900, CB250, BSA Bantam D14/4, Suzuki TS100, SX200.

O.C.

I was in heavy traffic in Belfast today stop start, stop start, you know the kind of traffic that I mean, the bikes temp gauge showed 28c the cooling fan was running and the heat onto my legs was considerable even with my trouser vents open it just one of those things (that isn't a frequent event).

I cant suggest what you should do Stoli, it's really up to you ~~~ I wouldn't have thought the GTR is any worse than other bikes TBH.

Having had a fair share of bikes I can say Ive never had this kind of heat. Like wanting to get off heat.
I kept putting my hands down to just above my knee and it was like a hair dryer in full... constantly.
My one thing I could mention... I recently put those wind deflectors on that bolt to the side fairing. The clear L shaped Ines
Could this be causing a vortex?  Anyway one else have them?
Putting legs down for a stretch was agony with heat
Even my wife could feel it on the back!!
I cannot stress how much hot air was over both of us
Very serious as I'm at the point of looking for another bike for next years tour

I had those deflectors on my 2010 GTR, however I dont think I was ever in the kind of high temperatures that you experienced

There is something wrong with that bike I have been in 35 plus and not experienced this problem.

I think you will find most bikes with a full fairing are the same, you just notice it more in extreme heat , I had a zzr11 that I went out on in 30 degree heat and nearly got boiled , it's not very often that we ride in very hot conditions, that's why all the gold wing and harly owners ride in shorts and t shirts when abroad , works the other way when it's colder you can ride more comfortable as the wind is kept of you ,,  try a naked bike ,,,  :biker3:

Mechanically it's perfect. 2576 miles in a week to Italy and back... I think if it were not well it would have gone pop.

Mines an 08 Plate and exactly as the OP described.
I even took the Touring Screen off to allow more air flow, mine seems hotter on the Left.
I guess its exaggerated in this Heat, but yesterday did 200 Miles and it was very sticky

Gotta be the deflectors. We were in France last year high 30's with no probs, yes it was hot in traffic but once moving it was fine.

doebag

It will feel worse as the radiator fans are blowing hot air when the bike is stationary.
It should feel a bit better when the bike is moving and you have relatively cooler air passing your legs.

08 has different side panels which I think can be removed to change cooling

Mines a 2011 bike, never experienced any problem like that and we rode in very hot condition's last year in Spain, especially busy and slow in some of the city's we stayed in.
