Does anyone use it?

I bought 2 cans recently. Sprayed the bike before setting out earlier. I'm not usually a winter rider but now I have the GTR I'm thinking I'll get more riding days in through the year.

Needless to say, the bike came back stinking!!! My heart sank 🙁

So I'm doing a clean tomorrow. Is it a question of degreasing (gunk), hosing off, then re applying?

I'm sure that's the wrong approach, I have a tin that's lasted about 3 or 4 years! Sure the way to do it is spray onto a cloth or a brush and just wipe so a thin film is left. As for getting it off, not sure, possibly a good jet wash or steam cleaning, just avoid brakes and bearings!
Haven't done mine for a while, and local BMW  motorrad at Wolves do a steam cleaning and ACF treatment for £30, sorely tempted!
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

I've got one can thats lasted me forever...

typically the bike gets a solid clean and a dry then ACF on bits that typically hold water...it only creates a covering that repels water.. If you wipe it it'll come off.  So on the ZZR it used to be at the base of the fuel tank where water used to accumulate etc.

£30 quid is a good job, there was a guy down south (I think) that did a winter prep, good clean, dry, polish then pressure sealed tent for ACF50 application.

You'll need a TFR to remove it.

The smell will be it burning off the headers, nothing to worry about.

Check out 'All Year Biker'

It was an email from them, Benhams'  of Wolverhampton, suppose from when I bought the 700 . Didn't see it on the website, but phoned up service and asked if they were still doing it and yep.
Thought it was £29 but it's  £39, so just  booked in the GTR for the 18th Jan. Takes 2 hours, video health check of machine, steam cleaning then the ACF treatment!
If its all good the 700GS will be following!
Just ask for  service and book it in!
BTW - I'm not on commission for the dark side, just seems like a great offer!

hi they told me that you can wash between treatments. I will probably not though. Get it done again in the spring.

I have been told that unless you can put it on as a "mist" by using a spray gun and heating the ACF (i.e. non - aerosol application) it is best to dunk the aerosol can in warm water for a while and then spray onto a rag to apply. If needed, it can be brushed out for a while to eliminate any "pooling".

We have used it on various aircraft over many years (usually within wing and tailplane sections) although the method of application is different in that a long (typically 15') round tube is drilled around its radius at numerous locations and the heated fluid is forced down it and out through the drillings using compressed air.

It certainly seems to work - many American aircraft destined originally for dry climes are not corrosion protected to reduce weight. Using ACF 50 seems to completely eliminate corrosion forming that can otherwise result in some very expensive structural repairs on these aircraft if they are exported to Europe.

I've owned a good few and to date, have never had to have repairs undertaken due to corrosion damage, even on an aircraft that was originally unprotected when new.

steam cleaning

Wouldn't want anyone steam cleaning my bike.

Just think of all the places steam can get that water can't.
