I'm an Essex boy but have resided in Devon for the last 38 years. I have'nt a clue what most of the locals are saying and its the same the other way round. I think this country's diverse dialects are great.

Hi All
Response email from Bike Seal following my initial question relating to it being OK to use with Kawasaki TPS. I have no idea if he is right or wrong. Comments please:

Good Morning Sir,

Hope all is well ?
Ok, have been going around in circles ! Kawasaki UK technical people will not make a decision as they do not know how their system actually works....they do know how to replace at the customers cost !
Spoke to one of my multi franchise dealers, who have a Kawasaki department. The service manager says that he would agree with me, as to the way in which the system works, e.g., an electronic sensor, which works on the circumference of the tyre, and differential etc, as opposed to a physical 'pressure gauge' within the tyre. This is the same as BMW systems. In theory, a pressure gauge would also be effected by the increase in pressure through rotational forces also, so this seems highly unlikely.

What was said, was the two main problems being 'radio waves' interfering with the signal between sensor and ECU, and the batteries within the sensors.

There you go, I do hope that helps you. At the end of the day, the choice is always yours. My system is 'active' , while a TPM system is passive. My BMW bike has not had an issue with the TPMs and neither have others, including GTRs which have been protected. However, seemingly, no one can give a definitive answer to exactly how your Kawasaki TPMs works !

Personally I would not risk it. Another example as to why tps is a nuisance.

TPS is the best thing since sliced bread and I wouldn't have a vehicle without some sort of TPS system on it.  I find it interesting that I can't find a picture of what the inside rim/tire looks like after an application of that product.  I looked on their site but couldn't find anything.  With that being said, those types of products are more sensor friendly now.   I have to go in this morning and buy a tire for my hand-truck so I'll ask the tire installers what their experience is after the fact.   Based on some videos I've seen of the aftermath of the usage, if I were an installer, I'd charge double to triple to work with a tire that's had a puncture sealant used on it.

This stuff coats the inside of the tire, not sure how much gets on the sensor itself.  The transmit power of the sensor isn't that great but I just don't see how it would totally stop operation of them.

Wook, as you've used it before, what did the inside of the tire look like, specifically the GTR?

The amount of stuff written on tps. If it was any good nothing would be written about it.

No arguments on the Kwackers implementation..   Nissan isn't much better.  My daughters had older Nissans and those sensors were  :shit:

Three/four times I have been warned of low/deflation of tyres on my bike

As I have said before, the consequences of not knowing about tyre deflation  in time to make a controlled and safe stop could easily have been disastrous.

For me it's simple, without TPS I could have been hospitalised.

Or being the experienced rider you are you would have stopped any way. Tequenology is great but to be really good it needs to be in the back ground and not being discussed so much.

:agree: but some folk have NEVER felt the feel of a squidgy tyre (lucky buggas) so the tech works well there . Also if ya honking down 100mph+ it may give you enough time with a flashing low pressure warning .
When tech AND experience work together all is good ...but never rely solely on one or tuvver

I've used this kind of stuff before.
The make was Oko.
I was originally introduced to it to repair the tyre of a ride on lawn mower. It had suffered multiple punctures in one tyre after driving through a hawthorn hedge! The local tyre repair place couldn't do it as there were too many holes. They suggested I try some sealant.
I did some research, plumped for Oko because they do different recipes for different applications, one specifically for ride on lawnmowers!
It worked 100% and it hasn't suffered another puncture since, despite close encounters with more hawthorn bushes.
They do an application for off road vehicles, 4x4s, cars and motorcycles and it is designed to seal the puncture immediately it occurs.
I put some in my previous bike's tyres, a Goldwing. It didn't affect the balance. I didn't suffer any puncture during its use. They recommend that you regularly check your tyres for nails etc, as you wouldn't know it was in there, apparently.
I did however suffer in the car. I had a double puncture, both nearside tyres, sliced through the sidewalls as I struck a glancing blow to a protruding manhole contraption on the side of the verge. Immediate explosion. The sealant didn't stand a chance. It isn't supposed to be able to prevent sidewall punctures, only tread punctures of the nail and screw types.
I inspected the inside of the tyres when I had them replaced. I can describe the sealant inside the tyre as a type of sticky soup, which had the appearance of mushy peas. It was only distributed across the tread areas at a depth of no more than 2mm.
I would have put some into the GTRs tyres but because of the pressure sensors I didn't do so (the Goldwing didn't have pressure sensors).
The advantage to me is that it would reduce the risk high speed blow outs, which is always a bit of a worry, and I would use it again if I knew it wouldn't affect the pressure sensor mechanisms.
It's a doddle to install. But for the first 5 miles you have to stick to under 30mph, which is the difficult bit!!!!
