Was going to this today on the bike, but can't muster the enthusiasm to ride 1Hr 40Mins down the Motorway, and along the Toll road. I think I'm losing the will to bike it.
XJ600, VFR800, CBR1100, Varadero1000, CBR1100, STX1300, GTR1400 ?

If you do go I should ride the bike .
The robbing  :censored: want £12 to park a car they say it's the NEC not the bike show charging.
I was thinking of going Thursday or Friday.
I prebooked last year and saved about £8 this year can't be bothered to save £4 so will see how I feel.

We went yesterday and it was ok but nothing to shout about. Not much new stuff on show, very much the same as last year, bikes gear etc. best stand for me was Triumph and Harley. My main reason for going this year was to get info on Route 66 tours which we quite fancy for next year. Most tour operators (except black and orange tours) agreed that the best bike for the trip was a Gold Wing with the most popular being big Harleys. they all said no-one ever asks for a BMW, nor would they recommend one. GTRs were not really given any consideration but they are available.
Anyone here done the Route 66 trip? if so any tips would be helpful. Cheers.

I was primarily going to see if there are any bargains to be had, could do with some new winter gloves, and some Rukka trousers to go with my jacket so they zip together, funnily enough i can't find any other makes that zip to Rukka  :whistling:
XJ600, VFR800, CBR1100, Varadero1000, CBR1100, STX1300, GTR1400 ?

Ridden most of California and  Nevada earlier in year on Harley's and Indian. Believe me you will be better off on a jap bike. I can recommend Hafrian v twins as a tour operator.  We were on a guided tour and they were brilliant.

Hi Chris,

Did route 66 3 years ago, but with eight of us in a car, no bikes involved. None of the others are into bikes, so I reluctantly went in the car as it was easier and a lot cheaper!
We had an absolute ball, with much piss taking involved along the way.
To be honest, I was glad that I didn't do it on the bike in the end as I think there are better biking routes and roads in Europe.
It's a great experience though, whichever way you decide to do it.

Watched Henry Cole do Route 66 on tv and he said to cut most of of it out and to do it from so far along as most of it you could miss out , I keep looking at some of. These tours but I think a lottery win will have to be won to afford to do them , I would like to ship my bike over and take 2-3 months to tour the states and see a lot more , so it will be when I have semi retired to do it , this touring has turned into a business for a lot of people with prices to match ,looked at a 6-7 day tour of the highlands and it was £2200 per person bb and evening meal in good hotels  , I'm looking at £650 when I go ,   :biker3:

I look into it a couple of years back a lot of the tours didn't include air fares.
With insurance, fuel meals, spending etc and a addition trip for2 days including the HD museum  there wasn't going to be much change from £5000 .
Instead I put it towards a bike which I've had a bit longer.
As someone said with a good lottery win I would love to do it

We would prefer to go on an organised tour as we don't have the confidence to go it alone and prefer the security of a group with professional support etc. Cost for 2 including air fares etc we estimate around £10,000 all in. Chatted to a few tour firms at the show and all are around the same figures. Some firms only do Harleys but some give you a choice from a large range of machinery. Waiting for more info to arrive before we decide.

I recommend Hadrian v twin tours. They were excellent. And you don't have to have a Harley.

My heart says go by Harley as its in the USA but my head says go for a big Jap 4 or gold Wing.
