how do you all cope with the machines weight at lowish speeds?i had a cb1300 before the versys that was quite heavy. still no offers of a test ride!

PRD

Once rolling no prob with weight. Have you tried Wheels in Peterborough. They have a low mileage one and are usually pretty good about test rides.

Only prob ah have with weight is were to slap me belly down on the tank p :mfr_lol:
Honestly folk get so scared if mc weight .. as long as both feet will touch the ground you won't notice it .
Do you worry about weight with a pillion ..ah su spect not .
Do you worry about weight with luggage on ..ah suspect not .
Just get on and ride the bike ... if you worry about any bikes weight ya defeated before you start

All you have to do with weight is to show it respect , do not park anywhere where it's is slightly down hill , make sure that your feet are planted before pillion gets on , and keep it upright at all times when moving it about and there will be no mishaps ,  or fit good  crash bars so if it does topple then no harm done ,  :biker3:

Weight?  It's only heavy if it falls on you.

Had both these bikes  the 2010 GTR and the 2013 versys 1000 both excellent machines  but which is best.. it depends what you want it for  both bikes will eat the miles but the GTR will do it in more comfort.. can't comment on the versys being unsteady at 120 m.p.h never been in that much hurry when touring. I've toured on the versys/ GTR and ZZR at least 3,000 miles at a time over a 10 day tour. love the zzr but unless you intend on cruising at 150 m.p.h with another 30 m.p.h on tap just in case you need to over take :sweatdrop: then you may as well have a bike with more wind protection. so the GTR is now looking the best :undecided: on that because that depends.. it's a heavy bike to move around after a 8 hour ride in the saddle which I found out at the end of every day. so this leaves the big V which would be my choice  at more than 60 kg lighter than the GTR that's like having a size 10 fit as hell bird on the back when trying to move the bike around. the big V will still cruise at 100 m.p.h all day with ease in safety at 50 miles to the gallon and will handle the twisties no problem when you want to have some fun.. and will carry all the gear you will ever need and at the end of a long days riding and your manoeuvring the bike to park your less likely to go head over tit and drop the bugger and look like a complete Knob :whistling lol.....

P.S now your thinking well why didn't he buy the versys 1000 when replacing his ZZR? well that's easy.. first of all I prefered not to have a bike that I had before.. may as well get some thing different. also my 2015 zzr1400 performance sport ohlins model was only 6 months old when I returned from my recent 3,200 miles 10 day tour then decided to swap to a more comfy bike for touring in the future. but was thinking of the big V grand tourer but could not get a decent trade in price for my zzr as the new big v was around the price new as my 6 month old zzr was worth. so when the b.m.w dealer offered me as p/x for my zzr what the new big versys cost new of a new 2016 r1200 gs lc te I thought I'm paying more for the GS but on the plus side I'm getting a lot more in the process.. what the b.m.w r1200 gs lc te dose not have factory fitted as standard is not worth having! plus I'm getting £2,000 more than I was offered of the new big V from a kawasaki dealer..  this way I get a different bike with 125 b.h.p good wind protection excellent handling comfy enough on long tours and will eat the miles up and weighs approx 30 kg less than the big V and a big fat ugly bird lighter than the GTR   plus I'm keeping the £2,000 more I got as p/x value in the b.m.w for the future
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff
