hope you enjoy the new ride Dave
Rog.. enjoying the b.m.w  last month had the first service done at 612 miles. love the cruise control and the pro gear shift  these are something I've never had on a bike before and wonder how I ever managed without them.. fitted a lot of accessories since collecting from the dealers here it is just as I collected the GS with panniers.

Accessories fitted on bike are for bike protection and comfort.. Thinking of a HP Akrapovic exhaust but the standard exhaust is chrome finish and think it suits the bike but it's very quite don't like loud exhausts but do like to be heard as well as seen  :undecided: so at the moment will give that some more thought
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Had my first service on the triple black at 1350 miles as they couldn't fit me in at the dealers - bike running like a dream and I too am loving the cruise control and the pro gear shift   :biker3:

Still getting use to all the electronic gadgets.. rider modes/elec suspension e.t.c ..  the euro pro plug which I don't think I will use.. don't plan on doing serious off road riding :nono:  if you have the b.m.w sat nav then you will know it is a excellent bit of kit and just not a sat nav :nono:

P.S dose yours look like a Funny looking Kawadaki

looks good dave , I think my 16 is too quiet in traffic , like you said you  don't want it too loud, but like to be seen and heard around in traffic ,must admit though when I hit around  6000 revs the exhaust note on mine changes and sounds excellent, I was thinking of changing mine but the akras are a ridiculous price ,and I don't think there is that much difference in the sound ,luckily for you you only have to buy one were as would have to buy two !!! I have approached scorpion whose exhausts  I rate ,they come with a lifetime guarantee ,they told me they are working on an exhaust for the 16 ,think they do the gs , happy riding ....

When the dealer told me how much the b.m.w navigator v was  No sat nav is worth that  but he had a GS on demo and clipped on the nav v and said give it a try and see if you still think the same  just at to have one then.. not sure if you have used the nav v but here is a clip of some of the functions on the navigator v :smiley

think I was quoted around £600 for the nav v ,so I held on, hoping to e bay one ,but then it was mentioned on the bmw forum the bmw dealer in Bristol (I think )was selling them for £490  bought one direct from them ,don't know if they are still selling them cheap now .

Yep know that feeling of Akrapovic twin exhausts bought twin akrapovics for my 2013 zzr1400 se :sweatdrop: but if your want the best you after pay for it  didn't think I had a choice of not swapping the zzr1400 standard exhausts due to them being nearly as big as the bike and looking like Rocket launchers. I did see a 1600 GTL in Italy in August with twin akrapovics fitted they did look the Dogs bollocks with the 3 ports popping out of each end of the exhausts.. but the standard exhausts on the 1600 GTL look fine as dose the standard chrome exhaust on the R1200 GS LC TE and with a weight saving of only 0.5 kg on the R1200 GS I'm  :undecided: if the Akrapovic is worth the price tag..

I'm always interested in GPS devices, and have seen on line demos of the superb navigator  but I don't know how it compares to say the Garmin 590lm. ...any thoughts  Dave ?

Can't really say Rog.. Got a Garmin for the car which is the 6 inch screen that's all I know really and it works. it was a life saver when myself and my considerable other half  was on tour around Italy and the south of France when finding hotels. So not claiming to know that much about any Sat Nav  I was very impressed with the b.m.w nav v which is designed for the b.m.w.. of course it dose very thing a sat nav should do and more. but it is also link through the bike e.c.u so you can get all information at a twist of the control on the left hand grip. is it worth the £610.00 they cost well I think  but there again I've always been a softy when it comes to my bikes. the key is not to let the wife know what things cost
