I picked up my GTR early September and have now done 600 miles.

I prefer this bike so much more than my ZZR.

I am 6'2 and the ZZR no matter which screen I had MRA etc etc would buffet me at speed and make constant fairly quick progress a pain. The GTR on the other hand I don't like with the screen up. The screen is amazing protection compared to the ZZR, and with the less 'stress position' riding makes long journeys so much easier. I find though with the screen up even with the vent open that the slight vacuum behind the screen feels unnatural to my riding style, it almost feels as if the front becomes slightly floaty. The very slight pressure on the shoulders at speed with the screen down is just perfect for me.

The panniers are great, what a god send they are.

The performance - it feels about 70% of the power of the ZZR but that is still more than enough for spirited riding.

Shaft drive - I many years ago had a VTX1800 (I know I Know  :surrender: :surrender:) and when i gave that the beans it sat up, so accelerating out of corners was fun, the final drive on the GTR with the tetra lever system is fabulous

Im just getting a LM590 fitted at first service as I fancy going places.

I decided on the Scorpion exhaust in the end

Glad you're enjoying.

Thanks for the write up as it stops me convincing myself that I need a ZZR1400 in the fleet  :mfr_lol:

Any pictures ?

It keeps Rusty happy 😊

O.C.

Good to hear that you are enjoying the superb GTR, many moons ago (2008) I had a ZZR1400 , it wasn't comfortable on longer journeys.

The GTR screen is a topic of much conversation,  personally I don't find the screen vent to be of much use, in that for me I can't really recognise any difference with it open or shut.  For me I don't mind some noise and buffeting in fact it reminds me that I'm riding a bikeits a matter of finding a comfortable balance......I have fitted a Laminar Lip which, in my opinion,  is superb.

Keep enjoying your bike  :biker3:

Sounds good enjoy , a rear hugger is worth while add on as well because all the road crap comes out in front of the panniers covering  bike , pillion ,shock and regulator . You also need a bearing conversion for the gear lever quality kits . :mfr_lol:

I will get some pictures.

I have ordered a rad guard, fender extender and rear hugger, i do want to keep it nice and will be ridding in the rain so the more protection for the bike the better.

I have soaked it in ACF50

What is the bearing conversion for the gear lever ??

So 600 miles eh? I thought you'd have been out on it more than once!  :whistling:

The bearing  conversation replaces the plastic sleeve that the gear lever pivots on you shouldn't need it now as your bike is new , it takes all the sideways movement out and makes for very positive gear changes . The kit is hand crafted in a small workshop in deepest Cambridgeshire by elves out of marine grade stainless steel and uses the finest stainless ball races money can buy . (Got to big it up some how  :mfr_lol: ) .

Another item you could consider is a rear fender extender.

Contact Blue One for cost. Many on here has one and it reduces the  :shit: up the rear on the bike.
