With only a mini tour planned this holiday, thought I'd better give the old girl a once over.
Oil and filter last weekend, tyre pressures tweeked, thought I'd better check the air filter as done almost 10K since taking her on.
Bear in mind it was supposed to have had a full service when purchased, and dealer service at 22K also................

Minging!

So, try to get a new one as away on Saturday..........
Cradeley........................nope, none in ................- £32
DK   (really hurts to say those letters!   :2guns:)   not in stock........£37
DMC Birmingham ................nope..........................£32
J&S Northwhich................yes, in stock..................£40
Frasers of Gloucester.........nope............................£32
Kwackies @ Stoke......... yes, Hi-Flo.......................£26
BJ's Willenhall...............yes, Hi - Flo......................£28
Why such a variety of prices for OEM filter?
Bit the bullet, went for Hi-Flo, just as available locally and wanted bike back together, can't find any bad press about them so hopefully good.
Fitted, and running sooo much better!
According to the manual on here, air filter changed every 11,250 miles, seems to have been overlooked.
Is there not a check? This is the worst filter I have ever seen in 35 years of motorcycle maintainence.
Shame on me for not checking previously, but really miffed that not appears to have been changed by main dealer at 22.5k!.   :2guns: :asshole: :censored:
Apologies, rant over, and now bike back together, hopefully Demon Tweeks tomorrow to check out their boots with 0% apr..........wonder if a Shoei multitech might copme the same way!   :whistling:
Hopefully at Tweeks in Wrexham for 10:30 if anyone's out!

I'd email whoever serviced it and ask them to explain why the filter is in such a state. You should feel a difference in the bike when the engine can breathe properly

Has anyone fitted the K&N washable filter on here and noticed any improvement
They are supposed to be good for 50000 miles

  "minging"...that's an understatement.

Were you charged for a filter when the bike was serviced ? if so ask them why they charged you and didn't replace it  :2guns:

I have two K&N washable filters, I put one in and keep the other as a spare, then swop them over and clean the one which came out, and so on, works a treat if you use the proper K&N cleaning and oiling stuff, spot on.
Ducati owner now but I used to have a Black one, the fastest version.
Previous, Sprint ST (2), VFR 800, Fireblade's (4) SP1, VTR1000, GPZ900, CB250, BSA Bantam D14/4, Suzuki TS100, SX200.

Looking at the receipts, on purchase (16K miles) said it had a "minor service", so that would just be inspection and oil / filter, the 22.5K service - that was a "free" service as I had wasted 3 days over them trying to sort the TPS sensors, so no receipt passed to me, so can see why it wasn't done, labour and parts cost! Just really annoyed.
80 miles today, it's a different machine (not surprising after the "blockage" removed!) so much more responsive, hopefully the MPG will jump accordingly, will find out in a weeks time when we're off to France!

Suppose I should look at the positives, they're doing the job they're designed for! Think I'll be checking in 10k not 22.5k as detailed!

Worth the hassle of the check and change, managed 54 - 55 MPG on France trip, including M'way blasts to Portsmouth and back, well happy!

Nice one...mine has just been changed along with all the other bits that get done on a 15,000 mile service.
