Really miffed, bought a pair of Gore-Tex Alpine Stars just over three years ago, they really have failed me big time. Wet whenever it rains starting at the toes!
So looking for a new pair.
Best ever owned were Daytona Gore-Tex, lasted me 12 years and basically fell apart from wear, but stayed waterproof to the end.
OK, logic says replace the A-Stars with Daytona again, trouble is they are a tad pricey......ok, you get what you pay for!
But, looking around, really like the look of the lace up style CE approved boot, e.g. TCX X-Blend or Rev-it Royale H2O.
Had good experience with TCX boots previously, and Rev-it jacket, but it's just the lack of shin cover!
Both boots - style is what I could be comfy in all day - after walking the mutt my Brasher walking boots basically stay on till later in the day.
It's just the lack of shin protection, OK, they're only about 50mm shorter than most calf boots, but would this be an issue?
Anybody regularly wear this style? Are they as waterproof as they claim? Any critiscism or are the as good as calf length jobbies?
Any opinions appreciated!

Daytona GTX for me I'm afraid, waterproof, good protection and all day comfy on and off the bike, but as you say, pricey.
XJ600, VFR800, CBR1100, Varadero1000, CBR1100, STX1300, GTR1400 ?

dya know I have had plenty different boots as I  used to ride 'off road'  as well as  'on road', so I am of the opinion that you must buy the best you can a££ord,  generally speaking off road/adventure style boots will be better all rounders than other types.

I have a wonky foot so I must have a boot that buckles tight around my ankle hence my boots have lots of buckles which provide support.

In answer to your question.........choose an adventure style boot maybe sidi adventure goretex. I have these boots and they are superb, well made, provide protection and they ARE waterproof. ..but they will cost you £300.00

TCX Goretex boots for me, as light as trainers but with good protection. Not cheap but very comfortable and totally waterproof.

However good these would make me look, and the protection they'd offer, I can see two main issues..........
1- I'd be knackered after lacing all those pesky eyelets  :sweatdrop: and.......
2 - they'd put too much pressure on the suspenders, that'd smart!  :embarrassed:
But after seeing the Rocky Horror Picture show last month at Wolverhampton, gonna get me a pair ready for next time!
Best night in ages that, audience was stunning, boots sorted, now just need the basque!
