Gents (and Debs)

I wonder if you can give me any help with this little issue (no not that  :mfr_lol:).

I've ordered my girlfriend a Belstaff leather jacket, the quality, cut, attention to detail is fantastic but so is the price tag ! hence my issue.  I thought next month that I'd treat myself to the men's version, now my girlfriend who loves sniffing out a bargain on the net has found a few copies from much cheaper manufacturers, (one promises that the jacket is made "Drum leather" which is the best hide and not the cheaper "split leather" from the underside of the hide which apparently the pakistani sellers on fleabay sell and is of a lesser quality).  My issue is that the cheaper stuff may not have the cut and fit of the Belstaff jacket so it won't be a bargain at all

Now like most people I love a bargain but I've always believed in you get what you pay for, so do I pay a lot of money for the Belstaff or go for the bargain ?

Go for the belstaff , you get what you pay is usually true , the quality and fit of the belstaff will be worth it , the cheaper copies will not be as good and all the time you are wearing it you will think I should have got the real thing , I have seen the cheap dainese jackets on eBay from Pakistan, bet they are good in a crash , it's like £10 gloves and £15 helmets , I see people buying them and think you must be mad ,,, buy once buy right ,

 :agree: 100% with Nightrider

I got my son a Belstaff jacket at Christmas from their store in the Smithfield Mkt area of London.  Nice staff.  Well tailored and cut jkt. Not cheap but do the job right and it will pay you back for years to come.

I've still got my Belstaff jkt from 1977 it's still going strong alas I've expanded over recent years  :mfr_lol:

   :stupid:   he's right ya know

The quality will be remembered long after the price us forgotten

Never buy cheap, you will regret it in the future,  get the best you can a££ord

I think there was a program on the TV about Belstaff a few months ago, and they had a repair section in their factory. They still supported the repair of jackets that were 30 years old!

Previously yes but now swiss owned.

Thanks chaps, actually my gut instinct is the same as your comments

Debs

I would only buy cheap if I could feel the quality before buying...

Stick to what you know and you wouldn't have wasted your money

Generally a good policy but some times it does not work out. Just look at BMW for example!

why don't you go to MCN show at Peterborough show ground on May 14th/15th and try on loads of jackets.
Here for a good time, not along time

Tim,

I gave up attending that overated marketstall masquerading as a bike show in the early 2000's.  Most of the clothing in the marquees is little more than tat.

Well the Belstaff arrived today and firstly let me say what a top quality piece of kit it is, the fit however is a different matter, Julie is a uk size 14, I was told the Belstaff sizing is ok but it's far too small for her but the arms are way too long, so it'll be returned, it's pointless buying a larger size because the arms would be even longer
