Result. Knew that would get you to open this thread.

OK guys, new owner (today) of a 2010 GTR, down Brighton way, new to the UK, well semi-new, haven't lived here in many many many years. And guess what - its raining...........

Now to the home truths. Before I purchased my GTR I was considering an MTS, a Z1000SX, a K1300S and some other long-shot outsiders. Part of my process was to lurk on the various owner forums, and as I still own a Tiger 1050 ABS and a Tiger 800XC I also have experience of those owner forums. So, I've read a lot of owner forums. Then I lurked here for some time and by now have probably read most threads. And this is what I think.

Never have I come across such a friendly, non-judgemental, non-subjective group of members on an owners forum. You are truly a most welcoming bunch, able to judge criticism of your chosen bike on its own merits instead of fanatical rantings.

Keep it up guys, you make outsiders feel welcome. All credit to you.

I have a couple of queries on the GTR but will stick them up on the General Discussion forum (I think that's right?)

Hi and welcome to the forum somedaynow.

Have to agree that most of the members are a friendly bunch. You have to watch that LW though  ;D. In all seriousness though, the GTR isn't without it's faults, but that's why we love bikes in general. I think I would be bored if I found the perfect bike.

What colour bike did you get? Any mods or tours planned on it?

Phew, that's a relief, I wasn't sure what was going to be in this thread. You don't need to trick us with curious titles, we read all the threads.
Glad you enjoy this forum, I have to admit it is THE BEST forum I am associated with, unfortunately so many forums these days are badly managed which is reflected in the content you will find in them.

Welcome to the GTR world, now get yourself booked onto our August Bank Holiday GTR meet.

Rusty

Welcome and long may you ride your new Gtr ! Mine is only a few months old and I love it to bits !! Everyone here is friendly, as you have already gathered  ;D
Now then, nice to see there is another southerner on the forum ... There arn,t many of us ! We are neighbours ... Along the road in Worthing. Where did you get the bike from ? Colour ? Keep us all updated !

somedaynow

Thanks for the welcomes guys.

What colour bike did you get? Any mods or tours planned on it?
Brown (magnesium?), no specific tours planned but expect to be making more than one cross-channel raid, as well as Welsh and Irish trips.

Lone Wolf, where do I find the details on the August Bank Holiday trip?

Lord Rusty, the appropriateness of your name is pure serendipidity : I was wondering am I correct to be concerned about corrossion living so close to the on the coast with a GTR?

Rusty

Not at all mate ... Lived here for years and never had a problem .. I mean if you left it out on Brighton seafront all year round then maybe you would invite trouble but I would say not ... There has been plenty of discussion about cleaning etc and a lot of blokes here use ACF 50 on there metal bits .... If you havnt heard of it stick it in Google and then go and buy some !
Ps .... I went for Green and it's lovely !

Rusty

Ps ... Mr Wolf will be busy packing for his trip to Scotland so I shall jump in and tell you to go to the Adventure Thread 2nd one down entitled something like " Mid Year Convention " ... You won't miss it ... About a zillion people have read it and even more are coming !! Come along it will be great ;D
On another note I am off to France next week for 8 days with some old work friends and next year, if Wales goes well, there was talk of a trip over to Ireland .....

Speaking of lesbians, it reminds me of one of my favorite phrases:

"that's about as useful as a lesbian without a tongue"  ;D
