I know I am preaching to the converted, I've only had it a couple of weeks, but I really love this bike, despite no cruise control!

I've had Triumph triples since 2005, Sprint ST 1050, Tiger 1050 and the last three years on an Explorer, the sound and torque you get from them, especially the Explorer with the Beowulf exhaust is amazing, they are a bit agricultural though.

After reading reviews I expected the GTR to be like a Pan but more top heavy, its more like a comfy sports bike, just shows you should take reviews with a pinch of salt. The engine is sooo smooth and grunty, my new tyres have nearly lost their chicken strips too  :punk:

I didn't get many miles on the last year with the Explorer due to some broken bones so I sold it just before Christmas with the intention of putting the money towards the mortgage, I lasted less than a month without a bike in the garage before I started looking lol

Looking forward  to getting some decent miles on my new bike this year, even though we don't have any euro trips booked.

Paul.

Glad you're enjoying it. It really is a great machine, isn't it?

It hangs on in the twisties just like a big tourer shouldn't, and eats miles across continents in comfort just like a super-sports bike shouldn't!

A quote I saw today: "There may be better bikes for sports riding, touring or commuting... but then you'd need 3 different bikes in the garage." Or words to that effect.

Anyway. Enjoy!

Cheers

Glad you like them. They are really good. My one has handled the Stelvio pass and everything else thrown at it.

Couldn't agree with you more  :agree: I've only had mine a few weeks also. Was originally looking for a ST1300 but couldn't find one locally, while looking seen the GTR so glad I bought this bike..

After 15 years on a Blackbird and two Pan ST1300s I switched to the GTR.

I now have the best of both worlds. The GTR for me is a cross of the Blackbird and Pan that the VFR1200 just didn't deliver for me.

K16!

Is that a Mazda? lol only joking

I've tried an RT and a GS 1200 in the past, BM's just don't suit me, neither do the dealers  :whistling:

I had a Pan in 2004, they are a lovely balanced bike and the screen is brill, they're just soulless.

I think a lot of people have been disappointed with the VFR, I tried a VFR1200 (manual) while looking for the GTR, and nearly bought it just because of the power and sound, but I just couldn't get on with the shaft or fueling or whatever it is that makes them lurch at slow speed, makes you look like you cant ride lol

To me the VFR 1200 is just so ugly, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I find it a most unattractive bike, it looks like a jelly mould,  plus I can't think that the pillion facility is all that good

As someone remarked to me about the white VFR1200: "It looks like a Zanussi fridge."
