Been a couple of months since I've ridden, but nice day yesterday, wheels her out, starts first time, set off.
Then get the flashing message, front tyre pressure monitor battery low (Or something similar).
Is it time to panic of ignore, never had any tyre pressure monitor's on my previous bikes, Pan and Blackbird x 2.

Nothing to panic about.  The lithium battery doesn't like the cold.  You have options.  One clear the message using buttons (have no clue on a 2011 as to which or the sequence).  Two, go to your dealer (if on warranty or extended warranty) and get them to change it out.  Supposed to last 5 years ( I laugh in Kawasaki's general direction).   Third, take it out yourself and change the battery in it.  Fourth, do nothing and it will eventually stop complaining (but you will lose the tire pressure readout for the wheel in question).  There's probably other options but I'm getting tired of typing.

O.C.

Here's something else for you to giggle about Jim, I'm reliably informed that the latest incarnation GTR (like mine) now have longer life batteries which  shoukd last Ten, yes Ten years

Right....been drinking the Kwackers tea have you? :mfr_lol:

Not so sure I'd want those new sensors.  So far we haven't been able to determine if we can change the batteries in those.  I'm sticking with my old ones as it's not a big deal to replace the batteries, but so far, after I've replaced them the first time they haven't complained (knock on wood).

I have a 2010 model and did change my rear one last year. It did involve a bit of soldering and was a faff but only cost me £20 with fitting so it was worth it.  Not as simple as changing a battery though before you decide to undertake it.
Just had the same message from my front one :-(

This covers all the options. The cancel sequence is the same on all years. Press and hold the top button, press the bottom button momentarily then release the top button.

Didn't they move one of those buttons to the handlebars?

No Jim... The buttons are still there.

They just added a mode switch to the left handlebar so you can scroll through the menu while riding.

Soldering to change a battery..........
Might just leave it and check the pressures regularly.

I was working on a cycle event with the NEG in Surrey. Just ahead of the race on a fast downhill through some woods with a tight right hander at the bottom, I was doing about 80 mph when my dashboard lit up as I had a rear wheel puncture.  I managed to pull to the side whilst on the straight and let the race go past and have it plugged by the AA guys at the rear of the convoy. I am still convinced that without the monitor I wouldn't have noticed until I tipped into the tight bend at the bottom of the hill and probably been spat into the trees at 40mph. I would never be without monitors again as I believe they saved my life; well worth a battery surely :-)

Was out on a bimble with The Wolf and he had a rear puncture as we approached our watering hole.  Called AA and then ordered lunch.
