My grandson is doing a project on England.   He has to put a music CD together that represents the music of England.  I'm thinking 'God Save the Queen', 'Greensleeves' (my personal favorite), 'Good King Wenceslas' and I'm at a loss at the moment for some others...

Any recommendations?  'Land of Hope and Glory'?  'Rule Brittania'?

When you say 'England' do you mean England, or Great Britain or United Kingdom. Lots of people use England when they mean the other two.
Anything early by the Beatles would be one of my choices.
If GB or UK, then you have a much wider choice.
'Dying a'int much of a living, boy'

Music "of" England, or music "from" the English culture?
Alternative thoughts..................
Streets of London - Gerry Refferty
Ferry cross the Mersey - Jerry & the Pacemakers
Solsbury Hill - Peter Gabriel
Penny Lane - The Beatles?
Patience is something you admire in the driver behind you and scorn in the one ahead.

Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
God Save the Queen -  Sex Pistols
Any James Bond theme by English writers
Tubular Bells - Mike Oldfield

Like snowrO said of England or from England

Like Doebag said England or GB/UK

If you notice the flag on my avatar, that might give you some clue, but I am talking England in this particular case.  I was born in England, not Scotland, not Wales, not Northern Ireland.  I'd feel the same if I was born in either of those or about those, but by mother is English (Ipswich) and my father US.  My Grandson came to me with his project and said he was doing something about England.  He was displaying the Union Flag.  I had to correct him.  While the St. George's Cross has no 'official' status, as far as I'm concerned it represents England.  It will be interesting to see if the local school officials here understand that, but if not I'm more than willing to educate them if they don't.

Thanks for the suggestions on the music.  I think I'll grab most of them from Amazon and then burn a CD for him.  As always, you've been more than helpful in things not related to MCs.  This is the reason I frequent here.  I hope one day to come back before I can't.

I'm thinking the older songs, but I may include some from the 60's R&R era as they are just as important..  Songs with England in them or from England.  I can put quite a few melodies on a CD.  You know, this may be more about me than my grandson...
