Around the 20th July we went on our first trip to France. We stopped at my wifes cousins gaffe called Le Grande Vigne about half an hour from Poitiers.

From Calais we rode 432 miles to Le Grande  which took about 9 hours with petrol and coffee stops. As expected the GTR didn't miss a beat. I was surprised how easy the driving/riding was, as the roads didn't have pot holes and was smooth, no lane hugging, the french drivers were courteous to motorcyclists by pulling over to let you pass. No traffic jams or road works like in the UK. Upon arrival i didn't feel as tired as i thought i would have been. But the wife had had enough. We rode at a steady 80mphmost of the time as the speed limit was 130kph which is about 85mph and 110kph which was around 70mph.

The route was from Calais to Rouen, Le-mans, Tours, Poitiers all toll roads then onto the N10 to our destination.

The ride back was just as good and 1 GTR overtook me with 3 other bikes. No delays form either end as we travelled on the train.

Will definately go abroad again in the not too distant future.

Great you had a nice time Knightrider.
I went down to Poitiers last year and this year to Limoges. I love the roads from Caen down that way.. No traffic and a pleasure to ride.
