Well the mighty GTR is in for it's running in service today, I've fitted the Zumo220 which looks good on the Kwak bracket, and sourced 2 rucksacks from the local market that fit perfectly in the panniers, 2 for £18 result!

The suspension works great now it's set up properly, so ready for the ride from Bilbao to the D-Day beaches, via the Pyrenees and Masiff Centrale.

Still can't get my head around the screen issues, tried the laminar lip which worked ok, definately removed buffeting but not sure I love the look! Blagged a ride on a GTR with the Ultra Dome on it, not my thing but couldn't explain why. Nearly bought an MRA vario because I've had four on other bikes, but fear it will be too short.

Thought about lowering the seat, reshaping, but having ridden it again today I find the seat really comfy, and so does SWMBO, so don't want to mess with it.(good point well made NB ;D)

The more research I do the more confused I get, aagghhhh, but I need to sort it before I go next week.

Going to have a lie down now........

I know what you mean...i have the MRA...it is just a little too short!!..however itis an improvement over the original screen, and doesn't ruin the line of the bike........as for a good solution?? dunno?? have you thought about Puig Screen??..not really seen too much about these

I've just come back from the Massif Centrale (spent a week there).......if you have the time...you must must must go up to Put Mary, the moutain passes going up there are awesome, brillaint views, a good mixtureof challenging Technical Roads, and nice open bends...theres a nice little cafe at the top of the pass too.......... Rocamadour and Ordadour Sur Glane (the matyr village) are also worth a look in........in fact there ar any amount of fantastic roads round the area  ;D
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?

Cartman

Thanks for that, will have a look and see if those passes are on the route yet, and add them if they're not. Been through the area in the car about four years ago, can't wait to hit them on the bike.

Can't wait to go!!

Picked up a large Calsci screen today ,second hand, so will give that a bash when it arrives. I've got a trip to Suffolk this week and next, which will be a good motorway test of what works.

Doh! I now have a Calsci large and a Puig dark smoke screen on their way, SWMBO decided to treat me to the Puig not knowing I'd bought the Calsci. So one or other will be up for sale in a few weeks.

I think my wife may have been possesed!!! In 12 years she has never bought anything for the bike. :o

Did she buy it online? You can use the distant selling regulation to send it back

I'm currently using a Calsci as well. Its ok for summer, better than the MRA Vario, but not sure how it will compare to the Cee Baileys ultra tour in winter

I might be interested in the Puig for winter use....if you fancy selling on, let me know

The best thing about the CalSci screens over the Cee Baileys is their optical neutrality.
The Cee Baileys all use compound curves and while it won't affect your vision, it still distorts stuff in your peripheral vision which is distracting.
Also, the tallest (XL) CalSci is +7.5" over the 2008/9 stock screen and 2" wider everywhere.
In winter it's the best screen I've ever ridden with, except for my Rifle base + 22" homemade screen on my GTR1000.
In the summer I will usually fit the standard screen unless doing a tour.

Well got the Puig and Calsci screens now, fitted the Puig as it looks the business, and so far I'm impressed! Did the usual 140 return trip to 'work' and it performed well, still feel like your riding a bike but smooth airflow even at (ehumm) motorway speeds.

Will run the Calsci tomorrow to compare and contrast.

Forgive me I'm an anorack about these things 8)
