Made it to top of Stelvio yesterday but at top was losing coolant. Let it cool down and made it back to bottom. Am now getting  drips of coolant when hot and under load. It is very warm here 30+, don't think there is an easy way to get to coolant reservoir with out much stripping down. Any ideas  only 800 miles to go.

So only leaking under pressure. Could be a hose going or a clamp that's not tight enough.
Only way to get at the reservoir is to remove fairing. Not a good design choice Kawasaki.

It could possibly be a stuck thermostat creating the pressure

It's possible of course, but that is something I know I haven't seen on the US side of things as an 'issue'.  I'd check all the hose clamps for leaks first and the rad in case of a debris strike.

Sounds to me like an airlock in the system.  A mate had exactly the same going up Alpe d'Huez 2 weeks ago.  Topping up the expansion tank only caused it to blow out again.  A "proper" refill was the answer.  He hadn't any problems in the UK but the 30C temp plus a bit of altitude did!

Thanks for your input everybody. I think Burchy has hit the nail on head. Now at lower altitude and it seems ok so am pressing on keeping an eye on engine temp. When I get back will check system and refill.

Don't forget to bleed it at the water pump
