Very short notice I know, but if anyone's at a loose end and they fancy meeting up, I'm heading to the Cat & Fiddle at Buxton today. Midday approx, should be there. If anyone's up for it post on here and I'll keep checking while I'm on route.

Had a decent steady ride out to the Cat & Fiddle. I almost didn't find it but then I recognised it in the distance from pics I've seen of it before. There's actually a few pubs in the immediate area.
There was a vintage Rolls Royce meeting going on there so I felt a bit out of place until one other biker turned up on his BMW RT 1200.
Weather was a bit of a mixed bag, strong winds, rain but mostly fine although I did need my neck warmer on to kill the cold.

I went out via Huddersfield and Holmfirth and then in to Glossop. Then I went towards Chapel-en-le-Frith, (very strange name) and finally up to the Cat & Fiddle.

Two of the vintage Rollers....

A few more with a GTR in and amongst.

The entrance to the pub.

Coming back on the identical route I stopped to take a quick snap of this attractive cottage.

The usual stunning views to be found up in the Peak District National Park.

Returning into Holmfirth I stopped by........

Not too sure what this is?   (Is it a TV signal mast??)

Thats it, I didnt take many pics as it was only a quick trip. I might headback out that way this weekend.

Pink for a cottage ??? That just isn't right !  ;D

Was TV years ago, now BBC radio http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holme_Moss Emley Moor is TV etc.

I did a similar journey in April, IMHO Cat & Fiddle is over rated, there are much better roads around  :)

I agree, the Cat and Fiddle is overrated

LW, looks like you were in my neck of the woods. Just after the Holme Moss sign (heading east) there is parking spot. On the weekends you'll find plenty of motorbikes there.

I've cycled up both sides of Holme Moss. Absolute killer, especially up the west face.

When I first got into biking I did all the routes across the Penines. Never a dull moment

It was certainly scenic around the Cat & Fiddle and I'm sure its a decent place for a meet. But if I had a personal preference it would be Tan Hill at Swaledale. The roads are better, the pub is better, theres no average speed cameras or Police areoplanes monitoring you, (not that I speed), its just generally a nicer location up in North Yorks
