ive had a 2010 gtr from new and never had a single problem with it , Ive only ever replaced tyres and oil, still on original battery

there have been rust issues but I believe its how the bike is used and stored , if its an all year round bike that's kept outside then its going to get salt corrosion ,  the rust areas are under the side stand and the tank part under the seat.
The other issue is a seized rear shock adjuster knob, seized due to the lack of use, if yours is ok then it will stay ok with some very basic maintence ( have you got any condoms)
other issue is warped brake discs , , I believe that regular spinning and freeing of you rotor buttons prevents warping , plus the Chinese brand of discs called Arashi are a cheap and credible replacement .

24000 mile service is the big one (£700) valve shim check / adjustment.

apart from cosmetics and regular oil changes ( shaft oil as well ) that's all id concern your self with

keep your underside clean and use that ac50  , dry the tank under the seat when you wash it , stick to the service schedule , spin them rotor bobbins , lube you preload adjuster every year  and you should be ok

Thanks again for all your helpful replies. I'm getting increasingly enthusiastic about at GTR. The dealer where I bought my Z1000 can't get hold of a GTR for me to test ride, so I've got to look further afield.
