Nothing to do with bikes but might appeal to dog owners.

I was notified yesterday of a six year old dalmation dog who is up for rehoming due to an incident which could best be described as no fault of his own.
Marvin the spotted dog was minding his own business playing in the rear garden with two members of his family, a 1 & 3 year old girl when a total stranger took it upon themselves to enter the garden and Marvin nipped the stranger twice.

The family who have Marvin have been persuaded by other family members to get rid of him and they have bowed to the pressure by others to now do this. If anyone is interested please send me a PM through the forum with a contact phone number and I'll get back to you and put you in touch with the owner who lives in Mirfield which is near Dewsbury in West Yorkshire.

The Police were called and they were satisfied that the dog was simply acting as a protector and are taking no further action. This is the first and only time that Marvin has reacted like this .

This is some info from the current dogs owner.......

Hi, Marv's story: He is a black spotted, pedigree Dalmatian who like many was born deaf in one ear (his left) this however causes him no issues as even from the bottom of the garden he can hear the rustling of a food rapper!! We have had him since he was 9 weeks, he has been neutered and ID chipped. He has all his yearly boosters. He has had two operations, one when he cut his side when out for a run in a wood which involved stitches and one earlier this year to remove a bladder stone (again these are common to the breed). We are insured through PetPlan which has covered the costs of both the above operations. We have been advised to give him a daily tablet to reduce the risk of further bladder stones, the insurance that we have covers the cost of the medication. Marv is typically boisterous, loves to play and run. Pulls on his lead but does respond to correction. We have had a trainer out in the past to guide us on walking Marv but nothing more than that. We have a 3 year old and a 1 year old who enjoy tickling him but he's a bit too big and silly for them to run around with. It has been an awful time, we all love Marvin he has brought a lot of joy and happiness and if it wasn't for having two young children he would be staying with us.

He looks lovely and only doing what he should do, he is a dog after all

Lets hope he finds the loving home he deserves

I've advertised him on a couple of forums and also sent a begging email to a local dog rescue centre who I've used before, fingers crossed for the lad. The family are genuinely devastated that he's going and if it was my dog I wouldn't personally get rid of him for such an incident, but then I don't have young children so I fully understand the family's concerns, she just cant take the risk.

He'll get a good home I'm sure.... Personally I'd be giving him a big doggy treat for protecting the family!

ok i dont understand ,he did what you would hope any dog would do on his patch and protected the kiddies ,members of the family have persuaded the owners to get rid of him  ,with all due the respect the family members should be told to f*** off,and let the dog do what he is supposed to do ,i saw this happen years ago to my cousin who had a alsatian who saved the child next door and then was put down due to fear .

I can understand if he went for the kids 100%.
But he's doing his job as part of the family protecting.
f##k the family off and keep the dog  :whistling:

Marvin has found a new home, a couple went to see him yesterday and spent a couple of hours with him and then took him out for a walk. The owners are happy with the couple so after the home checks have been completed it looks like Marvin will be going to his new home. At least Marvins future is secure now.
