Hi Guys,

I bought GTR1400, 2010. I got a top box with it. 47l. Original. I can lock the box, but I did not find a way how to lock the box to the carrier :-(. Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,
Lizard

Is there a plate fitted to the bike for it to lock to?

You should have one of these

If you have it then the topbox should just clip to it as you push it down. You must ensure the key is in the un-locked position for it to clip on.

thank you for your comment

I have such a plate and when I press the lower red button on my top case, it sits well on the carrier, but when I lock the box, so that it cannot be open, I still can take the whole box from the carrier itself :-(

I would have thought that if the box comes off once locked, it will still lift off when unlocked......do you mean the button can still be depressed when it is supposed to be locked ?

And that it is fitted the correct war round so the hole is at the back.

Hi Guys thank you for your comments.

Yes, it still can be depressed and the whole case (locked against opening) can be taken off from the plate.

It does not make sense to me, why the lock should not lock the whole case to the plate. I will have a service look at it.

TBH even when its working the MONOLOCK box that Kawasaki use is a poor piece of kit and my lock sticks and jams from time to time, some on here don't seem to have a problem but ive had a MONOKEY box in the past and they are much better quality with a much more robust and smoother lock
Im about to ditch my Kawasaki box and get me a MONOKEY when I do my full respray and just paint the top bit at the same time

MONOLOCK is junk and best left to the scooter brigade.

I do like the Givi V46 top box but I do like the Kwak one that matches the panniers.

I keep looking at the E55 but when you add on the backrest, paintable top, baseplate it soon starts adding up to around the £300 mark plus the cost of the paint to match the bike agh and the other one was free :):):):):):)

im exactly the same as you debs. I had the givi v46 on my zzr1200 and it was great , I sprayed the top bit with a rattle can to match the bike colour and I got a really good paint finish. I have the givi e470n like you on my gtr and wish I hadn't. I know the v46 is expensive but they last for years and years, you can transfer them to your next bike and even 2nd hand they get good money, as I found out when i sold my v46.

ive got a complete set of plastics ( 2 small pieces to go, thanks doebag) for my gtr so im going to take all the current blue stuff off including my Kawasaki top box, store it all away until I sell the bike, respray the replacement plastics to the colour of choice and get me a v46 monokey box,  well that's the plan . Im getting a 2nd bike as well so I can interchange my v46 between the 2 bikes .

Hi guys,

just changed the kawa one for a E55NT and if you order directly everything from Italy (what I have always been doing for all my luggage needs :-) ), you get them cheaper.
Ordered a new E55NT, new monokey plate and the backrest piece for my other half comfort, total £216 including postage.

If interested, I can give you the companies I use. Never had a problem with them and always shipped timely.
