I don't think checking his mirror would have helped all that much. Having ridden the TT's Mountain road on my GS, at the legal side of the speed limit, those faster riders are on you in an instant even when you're constantly checking your mirrors as I was (because I was thinking something exactly like this might happen).

The thought of riding the TT course when the road is so full of absolute tossers   ( in the most literal sense) leaves me completely cold... no ta

Rusty

The only one to blame for that mess is the fast guy barreling through the middle .... The chaps he hits is minding his own business and can take no blame for any of that whatsoever .... It's no different to you riding along the road for a nice sunny Sunday afternoon bimble and someone rides or drives into the back of you .. End of !!

I hope both of them recovered ok.

I'm with Rusty on this one as well.

I.O.M. TT part of our  biking history, so why knock something until you've tried it and 81,000 bikers are not dicks or tossers and where else can you go for a bike meet  like that without getting ripped off.  Back to who's to blame, has anybody really looked at the video, when the fast bike slowed down, he was doing about 30 - 35mph, so when the slow rider pulled out without looking or indicating, also, if you pull out, shouldn't you speed up, not put your brakes on (not once, but twice).  Plus on the TT mountain road, there is no speed limit and is also one way, so you ride, drive, accordingly and its also signposted keep left.  When you join a motorway, you speed up, not slow down, when you change lanes, you speed up, not brake.  Also, when you are on the autobahn with no speed limits, which is only two lanes, you don't pull out without looking or you will have a Porsche up your backside, and you will be to blame for undue care and attention, so I don't think the fast approaching biker could do much else unfortunately, when someone else pulls out in front of them.

I agree with debs
but im thinking even if the slower rider had studied his mirrors he wouldn't have been able to see the speeding bike way behind him and may have instead have focussed on camera bike
the camera bike positioned himself in the only bit of road available to his speeding pal but obviously daren't overtake slower bike as he might have pulled out even further

you can say 3 things about this accident apportioning blame
if the slower bike had used his mirrors he would not have overtook and there would have been no accident
if the camera bike having seen the slower bike pull out, tucked in behind him instead of attempting to pass him dangerously far side of the road almost blind corner etc then there would have been enough room for the speeding bike to pass without hitting anyone
but at the end of the day the speeding bike was going far far  too fast and its almost cringe worthy watching that
I had the pleasure today of following 8 hypersports litre bikes on a road used regularly by speeding bikers
watching them perform up to 180 mph!! nearly hitting each other as they pulled out like that slower bike only for their mates behind to slam on and nearly rear end them was crazy

no wonder there are so many deaths/accidents

im doing 140 and they come flying past me as if im going backwards!!!anyway that's all stopped cos on the same bit of road coming home solo, taking it easy, about 110 ish I got nicked
doing me for 100 in a 60
sounds fast, but its a wide open road plenty of visibility and I know it like the back of my hand, I know all the junctions and even most of the field exits with tractors waiting to kill you
still, its the magistrates that will be led to believe I  was risking life and limb and I will be looking at a ban
and a fine in excess of 500 quid
