Just got back from a 4 day tour of Scotland ,went on Friday , rode to oban first day fantastic road out of Carlisle  ,last 40m the rain came ,got dried out great night in the Irish bar in town , next day in heavy rain set off for Portree on the isle of Skye , never stopped pouring down all the way there , then the wind got up even more heavy rain , stopped one night and came back 180m all in heavy rain stopped at the crown hotel in Callander ,would recommend ,back home on mon in nice sunshine , in 37 years of riding that was the worst rain I have ever rode in,  lessons learned for my trip to austria ,get 100 percent waterproof boots , and take 2 pairs of waterproof gloves , my dainese stradon , passed the test and was great , the Michelin p3 are fantastic in the wet , gtr never missed a beat , but I thnk I will pass up going that way for a while , the roads had a lot more potholes and repaired strips than the last time I went ,   :biker3:

Despite all the rain you had a good time then ? I'm up to IOS with Steve in July so hopefully the clouds have emptied by then and it shall be a little better for us ! On a serious note the Gtr screen must have helped a lot ....  I remember thinking how good it was during my wet winter commutes.

The screen helped to take the force off the rain off you , but as it came at you from the top sides and underneath , a bit like standing in a car wash , it's a long way up , just make sure you have all bases covered, had a good time in the pubs and the people are friendly ,   Everything is expensive tho , heavy rain in Scotland is like nothing else,  it just does not stop ,

I can only echo what Nigel has said above, it did drizzle a tad when we were up there last June....however we still had a fantastic time even though the rain was unrelenting, day after day. This year, we deserve sunshine.  :mfr_lol:
