Many thanks for the vids posted there  some emotional and evocative sounds there.

I remember many moons ago travelling along the boring A17 one summers day on my zzr11 with my now ex-wife as pillion, we heard the noise then looked up and the Battle of Britain flight was overhead so low we could read the markings , she waved and the Lancaster dipped it's wings  :punk: a very special moment indeed.  :biker3:

:agree:

Moments like that are unique priceless memories.......................lump in throat time

For sound you can't beat the fastest wheeled sport in the world!
0 - 386Mph in 3.58 seconds in 1000 feet (no longer run over the full 1/4 mile (1320ft) as the tracks cannot handle the speeds they were reaching)

I've seen US spec TopFuel cars on 7 separate occasions and the noise is so powerful you feel it more than you hear it.
But then that's what you get running a supercharged 10 litre V8 motor on nitromethane.
UNLEASH THE 8,000Bhp!!!  :hammer: :punk:

I am a big fan of the sound of a RR Merlin. But the sound of a big round engine has its appeal too.

B-36 Peacemaker (the video does not do it justice as far as the sounds)

B-36s at Lakenheath back in the 50s.  3800HP x 6  and 4 x 5200lbs thrust

My dad was on a TDY to Lakenheath (RB-36s, he was a crew chief), when he met my mom.  B and RBs made visits to Greenham Common, Upper Heyford, and possibly Sculthorpe during the 50's.
