On Sunday, due mostly to my own stupidity, I nearly dropped my pride and joy with future wifey on board.
I went up for lunch with some mates to Lizzola somewhere in the mountains north of Bergamo, and on the way there the GPS was basically useless because of it's old maps.  So on the way down I decided to follow this BMW which looked like he knew where he was going.  Big mistake.  He went off to park and I carried on only to find myself down a really REALLY steep dead end.  Trying to turn the bloody thing around with gravel on the road, barely able to touch the ground on one side was very nearly a recipe for an expensive repair job.  When I finally got it turned round and wanted to right meself, I had mis-estimated the incline and the front brake wouldn't hold the bike so we started accelerating backwards.   :death: some quick right hand jiggery pokery got the throttle open and the front brake off long enough for me to avoid certain bankruptcy and major loss of pride / possible injury.  Even that got the traction control coming in to stop the rear wheel spinning.

Not my finest moment - the bloody GoPro was filming too...

Good description, you don't get the full effect with the video.... close thing  ... would have ruined a good day out

:mfr_lol: been there, done that! It is an arse twitching moment when it happens isn't it? Cant recall where I was, but I've a feeling it was Hardknott Pass up in The Lakes. I think the gradient was 1 in 3!

Ros

yeah - i nearly ruined a perfectly serviceable pair of trousers.....

I did realise that the GTR is VERY heavy when it's on it's way over two up with gravel on the floor.  Nearly snapped me left quad again trying to keep it off the floor. :censored:

Actually, that would have been ideal in this situation, however on the way home from there, there was a 12Km traffic jam that I wouldn't have been able to overtake   :whistling:
