Hi All
Phil here, newbie on this forum.
Shoei Neotec, the best helmet I've ever had (totally eclipsing the Schuberth C2 I once had)
Love the flip for practicality, love the sun visor. Build quality second to none. Spares readily available.
As for noise, I always wear ear plugs - Ultimate Squidgy are brilliant!

Hope this helps!

having experimented with ALOT of helmets , have kinda concluded that they're all noisy after a certain speed. And do use earplugs.

After many years of satisfaction with Arai helmets (Quantum and Corsair) with an open-face for use with the old bikes, I wanted a "flip front" for touring and bought a Shoei Neotec last year. It is so good, I now tend to use it for everything and my wife now wants the same, for her very occasional rides out with me.

Tried Scorpian, Caberg (2 different types) and have to say my latest, the Schuberth C3 Pro is expensive but I'm very pleased with it

All flip front touring helmets are noisy to a degree but in comparison the Schuberth is so quiet and comfortable that I don't bother with the ear plugs these days. Oh, as previously mentioned donn't forget the Pinlock, you can breath on the inside of the visor with NO steaming

Like others on here I have always worn Arai's until two years ago I fancied trying a flip front helmet, so as not to spend loads then not like it (as I did with the Arai RX7, yes I know it's a racing lid but christ is it noisy even with ear plugs) we bought Nolan FF and I'm very happy with it for a £200 lid, so impressed that my helmet will probably be a Schuberth.  I wear ear plugs with every lid because at speed they are all over the 85db first stage of H&S niose limits.

I've tried the made to measure ear plugs but the R/H/S one always hurt (thankfully work paid for them ) so I went back the foam type which cut down noise by 35db

+1 for the Schuberth. When moving from a (cheap) Caberg to the Schuberth I could turn the volume of my Cardo down by four notches.

There is wind noise, especially if you open the chin vent. It's not that loud, but because everything else is quiet it is, subjectively, loud! As noted elsewhere, once you start going stupid speed it's all noisy anyway.

Also like the fact I can flip the lid up one handed, which was a problem on the Caberg.

After two years I'm happy with it. Need to change the pinlock as it doesn't seal anymore probably because I've removed it on occasion to clean it and finally knackered the silicon seal. Cleaning is easy too, it all comes apart and fits back together well.

I've got a Shoei shaped head.  So my current lid is an XR1100, which I really like.  It has the indentations inside for my comms system, space enough for the arms for my glasses and is quiet / streamlined / light enough.  I seem to remember it was about 500EUR though..

I wear earplugs for long distances, but they are custom fit musicians earplugs that I use for playing the drums.  (They basically turn down all frequencies by 13dB.)

Interestingly, many years ago, I went to the bike show at the Birmingham NEC with my sister.  We both headed off in different directions with our respective mates and when we met up in the evening we discovered that we had both bought an XR800 :)
