First of all, shame on you Charlie for killing a pheasant. As for the replacement ebay mirror, just buy it, the seller says it can be returned so if its not suitable, post it back.

What amazed me was the Pheasant lay on the side of the road unmarked and the largest bit of mirror assembly I could find was 1" x 2".....................Tough as old boots Pheasant 

The impact folded the mirror back..............I felt impact on the fore arm...............and the bike did not move off line

Next ride out I'm taking a leaf out of tugg781's book and using a  armed with Kall's Axe

Facking 'ell, I go out for one evening, and this thread has doubled in size, people are riding round topping pheasants for no go reason, and there's talk of fitting shooters to our bikes and everyfink!

It was indeed good to meet you all, although some people's bladder control is gonna make for an interesting meet in June.

Kall, I used to work with an officer who had down to a fine art the removal of his fire helmet and replacing of a toupee without people noticing. I think you have the same knack with your woolen beanie hat.

Ant, I will PM you about tea and biscuits on a Monday. Even if Charlie comes along, I will bring enough for two as he will never stop to draw breath, let alone eat biscuits.

Charlie, the mirror in your link will fit, if it is only the head that is damaged. The mounting bracket is all that changed for 2010 onwards.

There are two ways of dealing with that.....
Drink less, or sit close to the dunny....... And drinking less beer might not be the right one.
