Or Hein Derick as my wife calls it, have they closed down now? went to the manchester branch today and it looked very closed, I know they went bust but the uk did reopen stores.

went over to J and S in Nortwich  instead and ended up getting my wingman some goretex Rukka trousers for £300 which i think is a fantastic price for rukka, the hein gericke gortex were more than that.

They went bust in December, we have a branch here in the village and it's now also called J&S, nipped in and they purchased all of Hein Gerike's stock and when it's gone it's gone, some of there stuff looked pretty good to be fair.

I think so. They're shut down in Peterborough, although I never used them myself.

Apart from helmets , we had hein gericke everything, we refered to them as the M and S of motorbike clothing, their stuff was fantastic quality and if anything was ever developed a fault they would replace with no quibble .We are now starting to replace all our gear and are struggling to get what we want . J and S sell good stuff and crap stuff and apart from the rukka dont do much touring gear. Today they were only selling 1 type of leather pants that fit over your boots!
still cant believe we walked out of there with Rukka, talk about impulse purchase, really wanted some for myself but got to draw the line somewhere!

My local branch of HG also closed down recently after it had re-opened after it had earlier closed.  :mfr_lol:

There's a shop next door called Get Geared, their stock is ok, but I prefer to go to Infinity Motorcycles at York, they sell Rukka, nuff said!

From what I heard they went bust again. Shame really as their stuff was excellent.

They went into receivership back end of 2012 as a result of poor management under franchise arrangements (or so I heard).

The parent company in Germany took on the more successful branches or those geographically sited for best exposure and ran them through 2013.

This version of HG went down the same route back end of last year (I heard through the grapevine it was not so much if, rather when, it would happen) with the UK network closing completely.

They don't seem to have moved quickly enough to adjust to ever changing market conditions and I am aware there was a big issue with supply from the parent company to local UK outlets.

Perhaps the size was a lumbering behemoth whereas other companies have been able to react and be lighter on their feet not tied into a main branded / own brand supplier

Out of interest to all us HG owners, if a fault should develop with some of our HG kit, how would a warranty claim be processed? Would we be expected to post our gear to Germany?

I bought a Dainese leather jacket from HG back in 2012, just before they went bust.  :undecided:

Liked it so much that I went to the Dainese Pro Shop in Bristol for the leather pants and, last year, a full set of winter waterproofs. The guys in the shop are knowledgeable, understand the kit and will make recommendations based upon how often you ride and in what conditions.

Very much doubt they would honour anything.

That's what I thought, hopefully all will be well then with my HG Goretex stuff.

As I understand it the whole house of cards has collapsed, including Germany

Right I didn't realise that, I thought it was just the UK chains.

HG went into administration for the second time on 18th December 2013 ... This time it looks terminal.
