After having last baby and now this one, there is one thing that really really  :censored: me off... Thats the Bevel Box Cover bolts.. Why don't Mr K fit Stainless Steel bolts?

Well I had had enough so I decided to do something about it... Here is what I did...

These were the ones I have removed.. BK had renewed the 4 that hold the cover in place, but in time they will also rust..

I decided to check out if I could buy them in Stainless Steel.. But No.. Not even from Mr K. So I headed to fleabay.

I purchased these..

The bolts that replace the pins & circlips were fitted (do not use a washer behind the half nuts).. The 2 half nuts went towards to front and the other 2 went to the rear. I used some studlock to ensure they didn't come undone. Once tightened cut them off with a dremel tool... I didn't have one so had to cut the bolts before hand but it would have been easier with a dremel..

Once tight and bolts cut off it will look like this..

Once that was done I turned it over to see what it looks like..

Of the 4 bolts to fix it back to the Bevel Box, the bottom left needs to be about 5mm shorter.

Now fitted and it looks awesome.. No more rusty bolts to make baby look skanky..

Looks good....

I was shocked the other week when I enquired about a ' hypothetical ' change, just to find out the value of the bike and how its fairing in the market, one dealer said to me "is there any corrosion ?"    WTF, its 18mth old.........

Unfortunately its the same for all big manufacturers ------- corners are cut to keep costs down i guess...

O.C.

Nice job Debs.....................as usual

I have found that any bits that started off as shiny metal  have now got tarnished  and need redoing or replacing , the rear subframe paint is exstreamley thin and really needs a repaint, take off the main fairing and ther is lots of rusty bits looking at you , you just have to keep swapping bits for stainless and get things repainted , ,, :biker3:

We have Bradford nut and bolt near us, very cheap stainless steel fixings and very helpful staff. I agree if you can change the fixings to SS then you may as well.

I keep meaning to go round and SS replace all the grotty zinc plated ones but as usual time time time. Only one suggestion, use spring washers or thread lock to prevent them vibrating loose. But well done as usual.

I used Studlock so no chance of them coming loose!
