Try the Michelin PR5's if you want to stick to the road like shit. Just be aware that they are a softer compound than some other makes, but unlike others with the speed rating you will need, these tyres can be confidently repaired if required because I believe they have a kevlar compound.

well fubar isn'ta very flattering forum name (I just googled it)   :mfr_lol:   welcome along

There are popular threads on every forum such as seats, screens, oil and tyres, TBH there are no 'bad' tyres and any one of the ones that are recommended on here will be very good on your bike, personally I would choose PR5s

Correct, GT spec is generally for heavier touring bikes

Yes definitely the GT version, any tyre fitter who suggests you could save a few quid by giving the standard ones a try, is a fool.

On  Pirelli GT the A spec is for The hevier GTR type bikes

Yep PR4 is another excellent option... now superseded by PR5s I think

I like the PR4 in non-GT format. Currently on my 3rd set and love 'em.
Predictable, grippy as  :censored:, great in the wet, and I get 10k rear 12k front to the wear bars with mixed riding.
Now I am only riding for fun, I expect that to drop somewhat.
They cope quite admirably with my corpulent morbidity (30 Stone) on top of the Fat Ninja.

I've not tried the GT as every time I go to get new tyres, they are "out of stock".
This last time I wanted to try the PR5-GT, but again, out of stock.
Maybe next time.

Road Pilots are lovely. Having said that I have just fitted a set of Conti Road Attacks just to see what they are like. Good so far and when we all meet in Scotland they should be nicely broken in. Michelin Annakee 3's were nice on the GS too. Sometimes I shall put the same tyres back on (when I say that I mean a man who knows what he's doing does it for me !) but there are SO many out there I like to try them and to be honest I have never got on a bike and gone "Bloody Hell .. these are awful or these dont feel right" I just ride it

As you know I've just ordered some Road Pilots from BMW for the GS. They did say there was a shortage of them at the moment so whether that is just they are struggling to get them or there is a world wide shortage, I do not know. I'm going to do some searching myself and if I can get some elsewhere at a cheaper price then that's what I shall do. The current tyres which are also Road pilots have done over 6k miles and by the time we get to Scotland they'll be nearing 7k plus an expected 1k in Scotland, so I think 8k will be pushing it a bit as they are squaring off a bit.

Michelin road 5 pair £295 from mytyres.co.uk
In stock at the moment.
I get most of my tyres from them.

Steve, I fitted PR5 GT's to the K1300GT around a year ago, to replace the PR4 GT's that were on when I bought it.

They do seem to be very good and suit the bike well, however I don't suppose that there are any deals to be had on price as the GT's particularly always seem to be short supply. Having said that, I'm about to buy a rear tyre for the old Honda CB750 ready to fit at the end of the summer, as tyres for classics have been difficult to obtain for a couple of years now. I know many that have bought any tyre in the correct size, simply to keep riding!

The PR5 GT's for the BMW came out at £430.00 dealer fitted, so not cheap but about the average now, I think. So far I've covered some 4,500 miles with them, and there is little sign of wear as yet.

one for PRD, i had ROAD ANGEL GT's fitted, i was well happy with them, i then ordered a new pair and the dealers ordered the wrong size rear tyre so i had to go for metzeler roadtec 01's,as that's all they had in stock at the time, no choice to be honest, i've covered 6,000 mile's on them and there may be a little more, the rear has just started to square off, in all fairness not a bad wearing tyre at all, i have decided to go back with the Pirelli tyres so i have ordered a pair of PIRELLI ANGEL GT 2's. i'm sure i will be happy with them.

GLA55Y

I've just changed from a set of Angel GT11 to Road 5's.
I got around 7000 miles out of those Pirelli's, let's see how the Michelins do.
