I asked Rusty to give me his opinion of my rear PR3 when we were on the last leg of our Scottish trip recently. The tyre has now done well in excess of 9k miles and Rusty's verdict was....... :punk: sweet. Plenty of life left in it.

I bought my second hand 2010 gtr with 021's fitted.
my feet touch down whilst cornering so no complaints on stickiness.
but 2000 miles later I'm guessing i am half way through wear.
I wont get 4000 miles but then again can you have a sticky tyre that lasts unless you ride it on closed throttle?

as i like to throw the bike around would the pr3's still be a good choice? i don't ride in the wet but if caught out  i corner as fast as a push bike so wont "need" wet grip

The grip of the PR3's in either wet and dry conditions is very very good - providing you aren't course doing stupidly insane speeds

Kind regards

Well, if you regard the BT 021s as 'sticky' then you won't be disappointed with any other tyre because BT 021s are  :shit: in comparison.
If you want longevity and excellent cornering then try an Angel GT or PR3 190/55 next time.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

On ride back to Devon on A303 I stopped off at Micheldever Tyres near Andover and they put on another BT023. I was going to go for a PR3 but front isnt near limit yet and will buy as a pair.

I chose the BT-23 as it was brand new when I bought the bike and was borderline legal 11000 miles later ! I needed to replace brake pads as well so I opted for them to do it as well.

All in it came to just over £210.00 - cant say fairer than that - plus by the time I got home the tyres were scrubbed and pads broken in.

That's inflate to 42psi, which potentially means you'll be running at 44psi approx when they are nice and warm. Sounds a lot but its fine.

big un

got pirrelli road angels on my gtr, :biker3: brill grip in wet or dry, :gunsmilie: feels good whether your pushin it hard or just pootling about, :scooter: :biker3: down side is---- not very good milage out of them, :help: 1500 miles on the back tyre n it was squared off, need more milage out of em :ohplease:.....

Unless you're drag racing them  they shouldn't do that

What is your style of riding?

If you are throttle happy in a straight line then that would account for the wear pattern.

Are you overinflating as that would also square a tyre prematurely.

I swore by the Pirelli's and got in the region of 6 to 7.5k from a rear.

I would rate them second only to to PR3's

1,500 miles big_un? Wow.

I have Angel GTs on mine and they have done 9,800 miles so far. Still look fine for another 1, maybe 2k too. Most of my miles are upright motorway commuting.

Great tyres. Not quite as astonishing in the wet as the PR3s, but damn close and seem to be lasting longer - two sets of PR3s have lasted 9k each for me.

I am simply astounded how good motorbike tyres are these days. I use D211GP sticky road tyres on my track bike and put in better times than slicks managed 10 years ago. The wet grip from PR3s/AngelGTs is not a million miles away from race wets either.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

Need a new pair of boots for my lady and am looking at pr4. Has anyone tried them yet, I know there won't be many with high mileage since they are new but wondering about handling etc. Have metzlers on ATM since have only got her last month and they were on it but are flat spotting slightly.
Cheers

24hours in a day, 24 beers in a case, coincidence?

Rusty

Ski ... Go back a few pages and I think you will agree the consensus here is that the 3's and now the 4's are quite simply fantastic tyres .....  Get some

I had PR4's fitted a couple of weeks back. Had a 200 mile run on them yesterday. Varying conditions, light rain, dry roads, very wet areas of run off of rain from the fields. My last experience of the pilot roads was the PR2's on a triumph sprint st and they were good in all conditions. The PR4's yesterday seem to offer outstanding grip in all conditions. Certainly a good way better than the Avon Storm 2 ultras they have replaced.
