How do you get the plastic screws to come out that are at the underneath of the side panel , they just seem to turn , don't want to force  it , so thought I would ask ,  :biker3:  thanks

O.C.

I think you mean the Black  clips, look closely and you'll see they have a small push stud in the centre, push this in gently and then you will find that the clips will simply lift out, to refit pull the centre stud out replace the clip and push the centre stud back into place.

These ones are at the rear of the bike ,there is one right under the rear indicator , holds the back of the rear panel in place , they are not like the ones that have to do to get the top fairing off,,

Are those clips the ones with the Phillips head in them?

They are a real pig to get out. Basically you need to twist the centre, hold the outside and get something in between whilst helping them out. The centre needs to come out to release them.

Needs three hands and patience.

The worst design clips I've ever found.

Managed to get them off in the end , had to use a pronged screwdriver. Had to force them apart . By the look of them I think when they first went on you just put the outer bit in then screwed the middle bit in , but then they have all seized up ,  the other ones on the bike you just push the middle out it pops , might have to get some new ones ,  :biker3:

Hi folks,

I had the recovery fella remove these 3 clips when we had to drain the water from my fuel tank a few weeks ago.

The centres should unscrew quite a distance - (8 - 10mm maybe more?). It's not a question of a half or quarter turn, for example. If they're unscrewed all the way they let the 4 prongs collapse inwards to let you draw the clip out.

Installation is the reverse. Mine came out quite easily once the centres were unscrewed properly.

Just my observation.

Regards to all.
