Excitement at maison de turnbull tonight........ firemen in attendance and Pam missed them. All my fault......... I got home to empty house, popped some bacon in a pan......fortunately on low heat....... remembered that my BB needed charging so went out to the car to bring it indoors and the front door was blown shut behind me. OOOOOOps. But I have spare key in secret place in garage so borrow hammer and screw driver from neighbour.... cant smash the garage lock..so ring 999. ten mins later lots of flashing lights and the neighbours come out to watch. Fire guys lever the door open and one of the men in yellow climbs the side gate and reports back that my bacon is cooking nicely! A fireman goes in to the garage to find the hidden key, armed with a torch and then I told him where the light switch is. Having retrieved the hidden key . I got in the house and turned the cooker off, being left only with very crispy bacon a very bent garage door..\good job I wanted to renew it! Pam and Daniel come home to see the brigade leaving and me trying to secure the door. Once it was in place and locked we came in the house and Daniels says: "Why didn't you just turn the gas off in the cabinet at the side off the house?" DOH!!! Still the neighbours had a talking point and the best thing is the house didn't catch fire. Thanks to Rugeley fire fighters.

The door is now secure and locked and the GTR is therefore insured!!

:mfr_lol: I couldn't stop chuckling while I was reading that. (was that wrong of me?)  I'm surprised the boys didn't eat the bacon.

Very funny story and probably the most expensive bacon sandwich you'll ever eat.  :mfr_lol:

when they 1st got here they wanted to go in through the double glazed outside porch door....

the garage door was the cheaper option  :-)

If the Fire Brigade cant convert your car to a convertible they'll revert to the next most exciting plan, i.e. anything involving smashing something up.

Are they charging you for coming out?

Should be no charge as there was 'a danger of fire'

I bet at least one of them went up stairs to check for smoke, and just 'happened' to find Pam's underwear drawer  :whistling:

now now!!!!  lol

at least a garage door that is jammed shut and locked adds to security
