Scenery? Oh, you mean that blur either side of the black ribbon with it's white lines and obstacles (cars).  :mfr_lol:
I have to admit to also having a good sense of direction and I enjoy getting lost.
Over the years I've found some very interesting places by getting lost, or more precisely not caring a hoot where I am or where I'm going.

I have only ever used Garmin.................

550/660.
660 has more features,biger screen
550 can be locked to its mounting, meaning you don't have to remove it every time your bike is out of sight
660 easily removed, take it with you at rest stops for altering routes etc in comfort drinking tea, rather than balanced on bike.

 550 can only take 1000 music tracks
 550 is much more visible in sunlight than a 660
 550 cable can easily be removed from the mount so mount changes are easy
 Putting new European maps on a 550 is a PITA

 I'm not sure what the music track limit is on the 660 but there are over 3500 tracks on each of ours
 660 is more easily removed by a thief than a 550 (I like to leave ours on when buying petrol or having lunch so they are in Touratech lockable mounts)
 660 cable is permanently attached to the mount which probably makes it more waterproof but makes it a PITA to change a mount
 Putting new European maps on a 660 is easy as MapUpdater will automatically split the maps between internal memory and SD card
 660's wider screen makes it much easier to display useful (to me) data to the side of the routing screen

[nods] Those with a poor sense of direction can enjoy the same thing with a SatNav. See an interesting road? Just take it and wander as long as you like safe in the knowledge the SatNav will bring you back to your route or your destination (it may take you down a cart track on the way but that's just part of life's rich tapestry!).

True,.... but SatNav users don't as they are secretly afraid that the voice will shout at them and tell the world about their filthy habits.
So, they just do as they are told and miss out on the joys of getting well and truly lost.

No George, I mean the scenery found here in the Lakes matey, which may be different from your regular routes
BE KIND...

ROG .

Boomer

I doubt it as some of my perhaps less than regular routes are the hills & valleys of Provence France and the Ardennes in Belgium/France/Luxembourg.
I've ridden the Lake District and all I saw was  :censored: caravans and  :censored: old people doing 10% of the speed limit in their beige Protons.  :gun_bandana: :2guns: :death:
When I want to see the scenery I stop.
Yes, parts are very scenic but getting there is painful.
That said even with the caravans it better than the M25!  :mfr_lol:

Boomer............................You didn't tell us that you wrote the Top Gear scripts  :mfr_lol:

"Some say Blushing Bradford Brides fall prematurely pregnant at his glance. Others tell of the massive mastication featuring Jelly babies in curry sauce during his filming of Nicole Kidman in bask stockings and heels. All we know is ...............................He's called

Charlie, you are seriously starting to concern me!  :mfr_lol:

Apart from issues with the mapping software what is perhaps more worrying is people ignoring all of the signs saying they shouldn't be there.

At work we recently closed a road whilst we replaced a road bridge. People seem to just ignore all of the road closed signs, even having to drive around some them and when they finally had to stop, as there was no more road they complained they hadn't seen any signs.

Think of all the extra money I have saved by not buying bike shampoo or sponges .....  :mfr_lol:

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

What I love about Sat Nav is that you can just ride where you want and when you get lost down that country lane or it's just time to go just push the "Home" button and off you go ......

I'm with Boomer on this one. I have an old TomTom Rider v1 which I use to locate specific hotels, etc. leaving me to enjoy the spontaneity of reading road signs and making a quick decision which way to go.... I've got a reasonably goo sense of direction however, now that I have stuck a compass on my dashboard, the worlds' my oyster (so to speak)!

Blimey you'll be checking where the moss is on the trees next! did you use a ram mount ...... or blu tac

Moss is useless. It grows where there is sufficient water.
Yer far better off using the sun, and when it's cloudy I use Satellite dishes.
Yes, all Sky dishes point 28 degrees East of South so a good guesstimate is easypeasy.
So, I guess I do use SatNav after all.  :mfr_lol:
