Ok, so the Sun was out today and it felt quite warm, I'm sure we'd all agree on that one. But where in the bikers manual does it say when the weather improves you have to substitute your brain for mash and your biker gear for shorts!! :o

No kidding, just coming back this afty from walking the dogs and there's this muppet coming up the main road to a major roundabout on his motor bike wearing bloody shorts and a T-shirt. He turned into our local Co-Op and I have to admit I was tempted for a few seconds to cross over and say something to him. Then I thought whats the point?  ::)

Until you've seen gravel rash down to the bone and in some cases into the bone you'll never fully appreciate the value of your bike gear.

Is this me just being an old fart/killjoy or have I got a point?

I often pin little half wits into Kerb & tell them how stupid & dangerous it is. The shock of a huge graze alone can kill you.
I tell any one , watch the Moto Gp on Box. Watch a Rider fall off & skid across track. Imagine that with no protection.

This guy was a sports bike rider ::)

"Bikus sportus non-doctus" *.

This species is well know for constantly varying his following distance to "bikus peritus" ** increasing the gap noticeably in the vicinity of corners and carrying out overtaking manoeuvers in un-suitable places such as on right hand bends marked with double white lines.

It should be noted that in periods of hot weather they do not ammend their riding technique but simply endeavour to improve the power to weight ratio of their machines by dispensing with appropriate protective clothing

I just steer clear. They rarely respond well to anything anyone tells them due to still being in the "rebelling" phase. I was lucky, by the time I could afford something fast enough to kill me, I'd already learned about pain and mortality.

This weekend a neighbour made a comment about the large number of idiots who congregate at a pub near mine on a Tuesday night (Dick Turpin , A127) and I asked him to please not lump all bikers in with that bunch. Some who go there are fine but there seems to be a hardcore of twats there every week. I stopped going after seeing my 3rd wreck in 3 weeks.
