Anyone use " The Other Bike Shop" in Lincoln ?

Im not overly impressed so far ,
so if there is any one that has good experience from certain dealers, I would be interested to hear about them.

What problems have you experienced ?

Main issue being with the GTR front brakes and rear fluid being "Black". My son is a Merc Mechanic and knows it shouldn't have been like it was with such low miles. I saved it and took it in to them after I had bled them due to loosing initial braking in France....

The shop never gets back to you, even when there is possible sale involved !!! When I phone up the person I want to speak to is " with a customer, he will call you back " and never does. And ive phoned well into double figures.... ( such salesman crap and fob off )

Well they just lost out on £30k worth of sales and all my servicing now. My mate was going to get a Diavel and me a new GTR later on this year, but not from there !!!

And after i overheard what they thought of the previous owner of my bike ( whos on / was on here ) it explains a lot.
So name and shame   " The other bike Shop in Lincoln "  This is one customer you've P2ssed off

Customer service and after sales is everything.

I will add that the service the mechanics did on the GTR seemed to be fine, ( except for not picking up the fluid issue...... ) but did notice the loose bolts on the front calliper.

I am a service engineer and tech ( but not bikes ) and my customers are more often than not present, so I know whats what when looking after your customers.

If you are unsure /unhappy with this kind of service then do exactly as you have done 'vote with your feet'

Mine was from RobSpeed at Grimsby, just up the road from you and they were always fantastic.

Give them a try.

I have recently had warranty work and 7500 mile service at
Portmans Guildford ... Charged £400 for service with is way to
Expensive.. Staff rude and obnoxious.. They have just lost their
Kawasaki dealership entitlement but can still service and do warranty work
I will never use them again and am considering changing the bike
Based on this experience ....

It's not the bikes fault...there are some crap dealers out there, but for every bad one there's other good ones, advice from others on here will help you to find a good dealer in your area.

Another Portmans story...... they had a mint 2010 GTR for £9600 at the time I was looking. I rode my mint low mileage Tiger 955i from Devon as a trade in (which they agreed they'd have). They agreed it was mint but then said they didnt want it as they wanted stock "variety" - there was no other Tiger on sale!

Not disheartened I negotiated a £9200 cash sale for their bike and sold the Tiger to a local Exeter dealer (I got robbed by the way !) Portmans agreed to hold the bike that day whilst I negotiated the sale of Tiger. At noon I rang them up to buy theirs but was told to "ring back later". I was continually stalled during the day. I asked a friend at work to enquire about the GTR the following monday and Portmans told them the bike was sold on Saturday afternoon.

I dont usually swear on here but they were complete arseholes and lost out of a sale and a massive repair bill after my little "adventure". Thank god Bournemouth Kawasaki and GT in Plymouth still know the meaning of the word "service". And yes, I heard Portmans lost their franchise - wonder why?

Stued - This was around June 2012 - a Magnesium Grey 1 owner with approx 4k miles - it was a mint bike which was reason I went back with cash  - is this the bike you bought perhaps.

Dont get rid of the bike because of one rogue dealer - they are superb bikes. Besides there are enough of us getting rid and buying far inferior bikes !

A lot of efffort spent by members defending dealers but by my reckoning they deserve credit only when its due. If you want a flavour, Google your bike shop, add "review" and the business directories theyre registered on pops up with option to read/write a review.

Have a look at "Fowlers Bristol - Review"  very interesting !

Doh ! Just seen that Stued1 has a 2012 model so I suppose it wasnt the one that was sold by Portmans for obviously more than £9200 !

Did anyone on here buy it ?
