I ordered myself a Bagster tank cover from intobikes.co.uk last week, £103.99 plus a few quid P+P. It takes about four weeks delivery apparantly cause they are made to measure, I think they come in from France.

Not something I'm going to leave on the bike 24/7 but it'll be handy for a few trips to put a Bagster bag on or the map case. Anybody else got one, do you like them, are they worth the cash?

Rusty

Ah Mr Wolf , I have to say I have had one in the passed, not a Bagster of course but a cheaper version and never again ... it was a magnetic bag, smallish with a clear map reading top. VERY practical especially for putting the car Sat Nav in there but it marked the tank of my then CBR and no matter what I tried I could never quite get rid of those tank/scuff marks and I am afraid it has scarred me for life .. however a made to measure item like yours will, I have no doubt, be fine. I saw one the other day , and cos of my age i can't remember the make of it , but the Sat Nav compartment on top had a moulded space which did look the bollox !
Let us know when it arrives and what you think ... I might have sorted my photos by then !!

if you have the earlier model with the clove box on the tank. then you should be fine, but If have the model where the clove box is to the left of the tank, the bagster cover I bought was a bad fit. there was to much excess around the front top of the tank. bagster said, it was because they needed to allow for the black plastic cowling on the top of the tank, did comment on this a few months ago! anyway sent it back for a refund and went down the givi route! also placed pics of the givi bag fitted on my bike. do have the bagster tank cover and bag on my zzr1400 and its a excellent set up! but to be honest, the new givi bag with the quick lock and unlock system where the bracket fastens to the petrol cap is a excellent and much cheaper idear! its raised over the tank by approx one inch! the bottom of the bag is made of hard plastic so theres no way it will ever touch your tank. the bagster cover and bag for the zzr1400 cost me over £200 the givi bag and bracket cost me £100 and its a bigger bag, normal and expended! also as the full map pocket, and a sat nav compartment with a see through window, its doubles as a back pack, and as plenty of zip pockets front, sides, and back. am not suggesting its better than the bagster, but its defo as good! and half the price :)
getting on now...  but not as old as Rog or Geoff

Yeah the option you went for was tempting but I decided to go for the Bagster. I'll pick a tank bag up off ebay at some point.

The Bagster cover arrived this morning at 07:45hrs. Just as well I was up.  ;D

Quite an impressive service though I have to admit from Intobikes, (the company I ordered it from). I had an email from them two days ago telling me it had been despatched & then I had one yesterday from the courier telling me my goods would be with me on Thursday. And they were. Its good to know when items are arriving and then you are'nt in limbo wishing and waiting.

I'll be washing the bike this morning, and then I'll take some pics of it on.

As promised a few pics of the Bagster tank cover on the GTR.

I like the fact that the tie down points are to fixed points on the bike, rather than just hooked under the tank as they have been on my previous bikes. Also with the GTR models with the glove box on the tank, you can use the glove box to assist in clamping the cover down. There is about 1/2" of leather which fits snugly under the glove box. I'm not sure if it's meant to or not, but I cant see what harm it could do, so thats how I've fitted mine.

Finally, I remember someone asking a long time ago, whether or not a relatively large tank bag would obscure your sight of a sat nav. Well I'm pleased to report that this bag, an Alpha Bagster bag which even when not expanded will hold quite a lot of gear does not impede your sight of the sat nav. It probably would if fully packed out after it had been unzipped but thats a compromise you would have to consider should you be carrying that much gear.

And yes....I know my fence is a mess!! ;D ;D

I still need to know how much you want for it, I'm only on a YTS training scheme and I might not be able to afford it ;D

was watching one on Ebay that has just finished. It was supposedly brand new went for £78. If I get 2 nights camping out of it and a few beers that will do me, start saving your money for the August GTR convention we'll sort out a price then. Though I'll have Kath with me and she works as a Buyer so you'll have to negotiate with her.  ::)

Nice job Steve....shame it wont go on the 11 plate... I'll be wanting to get something for mine when I get her that can hold my TOMTOM XXL rather than a sat nav bracket.. till then i'll stick to the sat nag ( the Mrs  :D)

Smart looking bit of kit Mr Wolf, and I don't like tank bags ! You can just tell that is quality and will last you a long long time. Put it to some good use ... want to see it in your future picture posts !

That sounds a reasonable deal, I can probably run to that.  ;D

Rusty, I've never had any grief over the Bagster covers on my other bikes. As long as you dont trap and crap under the cover and the tank is clean you are usually ok. At the end of the day my GTR is three years old so there's going to be a few marks here and there. But as you know, I do try and keep it clean.  ;D
