Has anyone thought about or changed their mirrors to incorporate indicators,  like many other bikes have now?  Been caught out twice, on roundabouts with an offside indication, where drivers of tall vehicles ( Range Rover & van) have said they didn't see me indicate.  No harm done but with the bike leant over they are difficult to see.  The OE indicators might look quite good build into the body but are they in the wrong place?

I could always revert to an arm signal I know :mfr_lol:

And how do you get 'caught out' while indicating on a roundabout anyway?
Ooops, sorry that I cut you off, but I didn't see you were indicating that you didn't want to turn off?
What a stupid excuse is that?
If you want to leave the roundabout you indicate left otherwise they have to give way.
I'd say they didn't look and/or were talking on the phone - that's why they cut you off.   :ohplease:

Eh?  I'm turning right (3rd exit) and on the other occasion going all the way around (4th exit, reciprocal) they should have given way to me going around the roundabout. No phones, bags of chips, CD's, curly whirleys.  Just, " I didn't see you indicating"

Andy, that's a very good point you've made. I do occasionally use left arm/hand signals but that would be difficult with your right arm especially while navigating a roundabout.

One option could be to incorporate indicators into the panniers, but don't ask me how that would be done. Perhaps MG could fabricate something, why not drop Kawasaki an email and see what feedback you get?

I take it from what you said you had words with the drivers on these occasions?

Rossendale Rider

Actually, the first bloke in the Range Rover spoke to me, saying I should have indicated (I had) and the second and most recent, the van driver just apologised when we both had to stop and said he just didn't see me indicating.  I think the issue is from the front just as the bike leans.

Anyway, the point being.....anyone got indicators in their mirror housing?

I have been thinking along these same lines ref indicators, I could see how to get some like Debs has on the panniers and rig up some connection system easy enough and indeed over the winter months I might give it some serious thought, but to find a way to include them in the front mirrors is a good idea.

If I had a spare mirror I could take it to bits and work out how to mount perhaps a LED light inside, but I am not going to wreck one of them from my bike to work it out.

I haven't tried em but have you seen the ones from ProjektD?  :undecided:

- the ProjektD one (which replaces the rear view mirror) is , apparently , useless.

- and yes , have been caught out before too , for the lack of a side-on indicator.

- imho, the bike is simply too big and the large mid-section hides both the rear and front indicators.

Im thinking of some of these stuck to the front of the mirror casing so I can be seen indicating by those ahead of me..

I can see the logic of these but i suspect with our wonderful weather the stickiness will dissapear damm quick, i have the LED strips in the red part of my topbox which light up when braking but there held in place with the reflector.

I would prefer something actually more stable, perhaps bolted into the mirrror.

What about on the bar ends?

No good on the GTR as they are designed for tubular bars.
Good idea though.

I just don't rely on the other idiots seeing me and make sure that I'm not there when they do the doofus.
Apart from one real stupid doofus (turned right around the outside of a roundabout with the left indicator on) in 2007 they have all missed me.
In a way that was partly my mistake as I assumed that she knew how to drive a car.  :mfr_lol:

I bet you never make that mistake again.  :mfr_lol:

There have been a couple of members on the other forums that have added signal lights to the front of their mirrors. Its not that difficult to do. The mirrors can be disassembled and the wires run through the interior to a light that is mounted on the painted shell. Unfortunately all of the DIY instructions were lost in a server crash.

I found some instructions on how to take the mirrors apart:
