Pneumatic rubber compound Michelin PR3 equal to, but much better performance for ascent into the fold, directionality, I've done a few miles but a good day starts in the morning.

I have been reading about these tyres and they came out top on a couple of tests for mileage and ability to turn etc, great tread to remove rain and even beat the PR3. Tested on six Bandit 1250's

Depending on price they could be the next on the GT.

Ducati owner now but I used to have a Black one, the fastest version.
Previous, Sprint ST (2), VFR 800, Fireblade's (4) SP1, VTR1000, GPZ900, CB250, BSA Bantam D14/4, Suzuki TS100, SX200.

I did about 800 miles over a period of 48 hours on my PR3's at the weekend and did feel the arse end ( of the bike!) twitching around a little on the motorway at speed, as others have mentioned,  but still felt safe and secure. I put this partly down to the wind catching the panniers, the tyres squaring off, and suspension set up maybe?  I think I still have a couple thousand miles of wear left in the back tyre, but the squaring off is noticeable now and wear pattern a little strange in places. The grip in the wet is still fantastic though. I would imagine most tyres will feel a little twitchy on the GTR when they're' near the end of their life. It'll be good to see how the Angels perform though as they sound like a good alternative.

I had 3 sets of Angel ST's on my GTR.

Have now put the Angel GT's on my K16 and they are brilliant.

I've now got almost 3K miles on my PR3s and they are still performing well and TBH looking like they will last a good bit longer yet

Ditto.

I've now covered around 1,000 miles since having Pirelli Angel St's fitted to the GTR and they do seem very good! I haven't yet seen the GT and was not aware that it was available when I had the ST's fitted or I might have tried a pair. Perhaps next time?

How do they compare price wise with the Michelins?

From what I've seen so far the price for the Angel GT and Michelin PR3 is about the same.
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

I have just booked myself in for a set of GTs this coming Monday. Had 3 sets of PR3s in a row now, and been very happy with them. The GTs seemed to get a good write up in the magazines recently, so thought I would give them a go.

PR3s ride in/ride out was £278, GTs were £250 as a comparison.

Martin.
65,000 miles now. Loving this bike.

Thanks for that info. Price is important but ultimately performance has to take priority. Let us know how you feel they compare.

Winston Smith

They are about £20-£30 cheaper than the PRS's (and the Dunlop Roadsmart 2 which are also worth considering)

I had Dunlop Roadsmart 2's on the GTR when I got it in March, didn't like them in the wet.

Winston Smith

Interesting Steve.  Simon tested the current crop of touring tyres 'back to back' on the K16 and the two best ones in the wet were #1 Road Smart 2, # Pirelli Angel GT

I got the current GTR in March 2012, the previous owner had had the Roadsmarts fitted at the end of February so they were virtually new. I found them fine in the dry but I had them slipping in the wet, I've never experienced that with the Michelins.
