Hi all, after weeks of browsing your forums I took the plunge and purchased a 2008 GTR 1400 in Neutron Silver!

It's a very comfy ride for my partner and myself and we've already clocked up a few hundred miles getting used to it.

My only gripe at the moment is trying to position the standard screen to minimise buffeting/noise levels. I see here that some of you have elected to install the larger screens or those of other manufacturers. I like the look of the MRA (I had one fitted to my Tiger 955i to improve airflow) and I presume that once fitted it still goes up and down.

Anyway, hope to meet some of you in the future and discuss the finer points of these great bikes.

Hi Graeme, and a BIG welcome to this forum which as you already know is a great place with lots of good friendly advice, and all free of charge  :mfr_lol:

A larger screen will almost certainly still adjust up and down on your bike, although I personally haven't used the MRA screen, no doubt someone on here who has experience of that screen will be able to advise.

An alternative to a larger screen is to fit a Laminar Lip, as seen here

Good luck with your GTR I'm sure you will love it as they are superb bikes

Welcome along... I changed my 2009 standard screen for a Calsci Large, still don't believe the difference it made.. Totally transformed the bike. ....  (5'9")

I may be wrong but Debs has tried one and didn't like it... So if she's not done it already perhaps she'll be selling it....... :whistling:

Graeme, welcome to the forum of course and congratulations on getting the GTR. You'll no doubt find a few things over the coming weeks and months that you may like to change to suit yourself but fundamentally its a great bike and I've no doubt you'll love it to bits.

Hello Graeme and welcome .... So glad to hear you made the right choice of bike .... You will love it

Hi all and thanks for the welcome.

I had a good ride out on my own today (visiting my son on a 90 mile round trip) whilst my better half does her CBT) and I comfortably hit 140 on a stretch of the M11 with very little effort having adjusted the screen up a bit but not too far.

The LIP looks a good idea, its effectively doing what the MRA does by diverting the airflow straight up (and hopefully over).

Hmm, could it have been you I saw just off the A21 at midday today?

ya can't go anywhere without the Wolf catching you out  :mfr_lol: :mfr_lol:

Not guilty lonewolf however, I was on the a21 last weekend when we went down to Brighton and Hastings for the weekend.

Lonewolf

'twas heaving with bikes today at Hastings, is that normal, was there a special bike event on?

Welcome aboard Graeme,
You are pretty local to me so if you need to see a big screen or such let me know.
I'm not about this weekend though as will be in Cornwall at the GTR Club Europe TdT Weekend.

Steve, it's a seaside town on a sunny Bank Holiday weekend.
Southend yesterday was nasty with traffic and LOTS of bikes.
I'm local so I used the backroads.  :punk:

I believe it was an Ace Cafe ride out to Hastings

Graeme,

I'm just down the road from you in Chafford, got a lip fitted to my screen which does a good job, if you want to see what its like.

Welcome aboard
