Strongly advised not weld on drums, will have a significant worsening of the voltage rising from V.3,2 V.2,9, then battery.
I have a video of the work done, I confirm it is a wrong way to change the battery to tire pressure sensor.

Well the TPS warning came back again so a quick call to the dealer and a new one on order, not just a battery but the whole nine yards sensor, I did tell them they could simply solder a battery in but no Mr K wants to waste his money on the complete thing.

Only thing is they can't do it until June 19th.

Oh well.

Al, is that a warranty claim or are you having to stump up the cash?
If it's any consolation since I had my front TPS changed a couple of weeks ago the warning has never shown itself again.

My Little Tip for what its worth in 5 yrs of ownership i had 1 sensor changed under warranty  and since then i have had the display flash at me twice each time i have check my tyre pressure and topped back up to 42psi. (It may not be right but it works for me)

Warranty claim and no hassle at all.

I just have to wait until Mr K sends the thing and they will change it, thing is i have a battery with solder tags on it and i could easily remove the wheel and tyre, solder the battery on and put the lot back together, but its under warranty so dont want to upset them.

Don't forget that the bike will have to be programmed to recognise the new TPS.

That'll be why it's £300 approximately to change the tiny thing over.

That's why the dealer is doing it under warranty.

Although changing just the battery does not mean you have to reprogram the unit, it senses it automatically.

But I shall sit and eat a burger and drink coffee while they do it.

Hi all, My 2012 GTR has just gone over 12000km and the rear TPS warning comes on (now that we're in winter here in Canberra), but once it's warmed up the indication goes out again. Standard thing for batteries I guess, but it's only going to get worse. So until I can justify the time to change it out (at next tyre change) as long as it's a warranty item; is there any way to switch off the annoying "!" TPS R fail indication?. It's as annoying as the low fuel warning that is all pervading across the display (which fortunately can be turned off, as I found out from this forum)?. Is it worth my while spending the $ getting the sensors changed out once and asking them to give me the old ones to put replaceable batteries into them the next time it goes?. Only 12000km!. I wonder how long these things stay on the shelf with batteries fitted before they fit the sensors to the bike.

Thanks, Hurricane

I have yet to find a way of switching it off although someone did say when the battery goes completely flat it stops the warning.

Once the warning comes on (and this applies to any warning):

Press and hold the upper button on the cluster
Press and release the lower button
Release the upper button.

This will leave you with a functional info display and a red warning light, but you will have to repeat this every time you start the bike until its fixed.

Thanks Jonathan. Very useful to know.
Cheers.
