While were on the subject of tps's, how much do the sensors cost to replace?

About £165 each before fitting costs

Yeah, I was just going to say a  :censored: fortune!

What duh! Im currently negotiating a deal on a 2010 GTR, i suspect due to the age that the batteries in the sensors will be just about depleted so i asked the price incase i need to mention that. Wasnt expecting that much. How long do they usually last?

You could find that in extreme cold conditions the display could flash a warning up saying 'LOW BATTERY' (front or rear) but it will normally go off after a few miles once the tyres warm up. I had this only the other week on my 11 plate GTR and I also had it on my older GTR 2007 plate. I called Kawasaki a couple of weeks ago re this and they said the battery should last 4 or 5 years which is the norm however this period can be decreased by frequent stop, starts whereby the sensors have to work more for that initial assessment.
If the battery dies during the warranty period Kawasaki will at their discretion replace the battery, 99% of the time they will replace. Is this bike still under warranty, (extended warranty). My advice would be to get the battery's replaced by the dealer, although its not a standard fix, it can be done. There are some on here who have sucessfully soldered in new battery's.

I have had the same situation as LW, warning coming on in the morning when its cold for the rear tps battery low.  It also goes off after a short while but it is still annoying when you can't see anything on the screen.

Mentioned it to the dealer at 4k service but nothing done.  For the 8k service I decided to replace the stock tyre with some PR3s and asked Mr K to replace the sensor under warranty whilst the tyre was off.  The rear tps was replaced but the very next day the same warning came on.  Mind you the difference the tyres made was fantastic.  It was like a new bike - so much better.

The dealer called Mr K who said that maybe the tps had been on the shelf for a while so dispatched a brand new one.

Two days later, having just scrubbed the tyres in I got a low pressure warning to find a screw neatly embedded in my lovely new, unused tyre.   It is the first time I have ever got a puncture and am slightly concerned that this might be the trade off with the stickier PR3s. Maybe I was just unlucky.

New rear tyre ordered which would be changed with a new tps.  Went back to the dealer who had the wrong tyre delivered so decided to repair the puncture and wait for the proper tyre.  Guess what?  The NEW tps also came back with the same warning!!  By which time I'm getting a little annoyed.  Their replacement bikes were no where near the GTR!!

Mr K then said that maybe it's not a problem with the tps but with the sensor/ecu thingy so the dealer swapped the tps putting the 'dodgy' one in the front when the proper tyre arrived.

Sure enough the warning again comes on but this time for the front!!  So maybe it is a dodgy brand new tps.  I am now waiting to hear what they will do.  On the bright side though at least I have not had to pay for the fitting of the tyre!!

It does seem like the tyre pressure sensors dont like cold weather, ignore em they will be fine when the sun comes out.
