Started my GTR today and noticed that there was a exhaust leak infront. Time to remove some plastic.

3 nuts was missing and rest was loose.

Good thing i noticed. Now its tightend up again and no more nasty noise.

I'm guessing that the bikes performance was adversely affected too

Dont use ordinary lock-nuts as the heat will melt the plastic inserts

Best to take them all off again and this time put them back on with some copper grease onm the threads.  This will prevent them seizing on the studs.  A seized nut/stud will
a) pull out the stud when undone if you are lucky or
b) shear off the stud flush with the head.  You really don't want that

Seized nut was not realy the problem here. Not seized at all. Nuts was falling off  :undecided:

Johnny, is it the original exhaust, or aftermarket?. Seems very strange for it to be that loose, unless it has been off before!!!!!

Its original.  And belive it always was on the bike. But somthing have been done here before, as there was two types of nuts on the stud bolts.
The bike used to be Kawasaki's demo bike and i bought it off the dealer. So unlikly it ever had anything else then the original exhaust.

ive seen several cases of loose exhaust nuts on the GTR, even the dreaded  MGvalerio had posted a thread on them, appears to be a combination of poor torque settings at the factory and the viabration of the bike, also as many people are reporting loose bolts for the engine mountings, tightening these up seems to greatly reduce the handlebar buzz, im wipping my fairings off soon and going over everything

Fair comment, BUT two types of nut holding pipes on is surely not from the factory!!!!!!! :shifty:

My guess is that it lost a few nuts before and was replaced before.

As Viper says, the dreaded "buzz" that exists on on some model year bikes may well be the cause, plus on any production line even the best assemblers sometimes get it wrong
