Anyone fitted one of these boxes to their GTR? Any problems with it? Noticeable change to the handling / stability etc (particularly on motorways)?

Any issues with fitting it (besides having to drill holes - I had a quick peek at the instructions) or anything like that?
Current - Kawasaki 1400 GTR
Previously - Kawasaki Versys, Honda 650 Deauville, Honda 125 Varadero

I've  a large givi top box. I keep it on the bike when Pam is with me to give her a back rest but when we've been away with top box and panniers loaded I've always been happy with the stability of the bike.

We've been over Hartside Pass and the  M6 Thelwall viaduct and i dont feel the top box was too much of a sail.

As for fitting I bought (2nd hand from a user on this forum) a large ali plate that bolts to the bike plate mounts and then the givi base plate bolts to the plate.  Its solid and you can see the plate in the picture

I just bought a Givi E55 with backrest, stop light, inner bag and mouning plate (SR410) for 1400 GTR from PIQUMOTO in Italy. Compared to prices in Sweden it is 3000sek/6330Sek = about 47% of the price in Sweden... I payed €347,50 for all this. Delivered today so I have not mounted it yet.

Mail to [email protected] and ask for Andrea. Top service!

Now that is the box Kawasaki should offer for the GTR instead of the scooter grade Monolock one they sell.  :2guns:
The later you brake the longer you go fast.

GIVI luggage is superb, Maxi box seen here on mine.

No problems with stability, and Gill likes it as a backrest, it takes two full face helmets, quality is great and it fits providing you use the correct GIVI fitting kit which as I've stated before is a bit "fiidly" to install.

I have a Kappa 52L Box mounted too... Yes... it's very stable provided it's secured / mounted correctly.

But at Speed above 220km/hr, I do feel the *Tail* Shaking at times should there be any cross wind on the highway.

Mounted my new Givi E55 today, together with new Kawasaki Gel seat, BOS exhaust and a Pyramid hugger.
The givi plate is very rigid and it is a bit tricky to get everything right. It took almost all day. I also installed the Givi break light into to box. Everything is very well prepared and fits perfect. The only thing is that the instruction totally missed the electrical installation into the plate. The plate is prepared for a hole and you need to knock the plug out with a hammer and a screwdriver.

Likewise I have the GIVI mounting kit on my GTR with the E55 box, and it has remained stable at all times even when fully loaded

I agree that fitting instructions are somewhat confusing....it takes an age to get the thing installed, but its worth it in the end.

Gillian likes the GIVI top box as it not only provides plenty usable space for this and that, but also makes a good back rest
