Parking lights?

Is there a way of leaving side and tail-lights on, with the ignition off or the steering locked?

On my old fashioned pre-Kipass bikes, there is a key position a little further past the steering lock which lights up the bike when parked.

Cannot find a way to do it on my 2010 GTR, nor after scouring the owners manual.

I don't think so. Not without running a separate switch and some rewiring

Hi

It is an interesting issue but how many times would you want to put your parking lights on??

  • The law requires that all vehicles must display parking lights when parked on a road or a lay-by on a road with a speed limit grater than 30mph.
  • It is advisable to use parking lights if parked on a road in fog

Because of most modern ignition and lighting systems on bikes you can't leave parking lights on.

Kind regards

Steven

I wonder if bikes are not considered for this ruling ( as opposed to being exempt)....purely because leaving parking lights on is not something every bike is able to do (my last 4 bikes have not had this ability)..... Surely if it was Mandatory then manufacturers would have to include on a bike before it was approved for resale and use within the UK?, it is possible because bikes are able to park further away from the road/driving line.

As an aside my 10 plate tiger didn't even have hazards ???
It's not a case of whether we can fix it or not - it's more a case of how fixed would you like it?
