Hi Boys and Girls, just a quick question about Sat Navs.  I have been looking at an Intercom and Sat Nav Setup for some time and finally got part of what I need after reading your views on past threads.

I bought a Sena SMH10 Bluetooth Intercom set yesterday. The reason I did not want the Autocom system was that I have 2 bikes and did not want to keep swapping the unit over.

Anyhow, I still need to get a Sat Nav so have been looking at the Tom Tom Urban Rider, Garmin Zumo 350LM, Garmin Zumo 660LM, (LM Lifetime Maps)

I have decided to go with one of the 2 Garmin units. Although the Tom Tom is much cheaper, when you factor in buying a charger mount at £50, then map updates every year at £50 - £75, and take into account it cannot be used in the car, the Garmins look long term value.

So After reading up on both of the Garmins, am I correct in assuming the only difference is that the 660 has a larger screen and an MP3 player?

If this is the case, is the MP3 Player actually any good using bluetooth headsets?

I have seen the cheaper white box refurbed models going for about the same price on ebay and Amazon but would rather get a full UK spec with original packaging and 12 month warranty.

Sport Touring are doing the 350LM at £419 and the 660LM at £499.00

Are these good prices or do any of you have any suggestions of other good outlets?

So many questions, but it's alot of money to spend if it aint right.

many thank's

Darren

Unfortunately I had already ordered the 660LM Garmin before I saw Lonewolf's message.

Maybe I could have saved a few quid.

Ended up getting one from halfords for £439 with Lifetime mapping updates and European maps.

There are alot of Sub £400 models out there but alot of them are Refurbished units or what they call NOH, (New Overhauled)

Wanted the piece of mind of getting a New Unopened UK model,  with 12 months warranty  from a UK High Street Brand just incase anything happens.

O.C.

Darren the Zumo 660 is a good Device and the Media Player works fine for me through my Starcom Digital set up

I have heard that some issues with the Zumo may occur when used in conjunction with Autocom as this seems to restrict the amount of available volume. I can't offer any advice regarding the Sena SMH10 unit as I've never used one.

The Zumo is easy to see and once you have become familiar with its easy set up procedure then I'm sure that you'll find it to be a very good, quality, product.

When you upload music to the SIM card (obviously upload to your computer music library first) you need to ensure that you load at "highest audio quality" available on your computer which will  then improve the quality of your listening whilst you are on the move

I now use the Zumo 660 through the scarla bluetooth headset. Its a nice set up, however I prefer tomtom maps and colours.

Know what you mean ... I had a TT for the car and was very used to the maps and colours .... but when it came to spending more £ I went with the 660 simply because their customer service is meant to be very good .... not needed it I hasten to add, and I am very pleased with the Garmin.

I've used the Garmin customer services and can confirm they were excellent. They only wanted the unit back ( not all the wiring etc) and they changed it without any quibble.

- just FYI , never did get down to buying a moto-specific GPS unit and used my car unit instead.

- its actually been fine (very surprisingly) , even in very poor weather conditions.
