I purchased the Ring Xenon Max bulb kit Alan, and only posted the link to the Bi-Xenons for information

I hardly ever ride at night so didn't feel I needed the Bi-Xenon kit

These are the ones I got

OK now i am confuddled, the bike has a H4 set of bulbs in it which give both high and low beam, the H7 bulbs only have one filament so you dont get thet high/low option.

Is that correct or do i need to get more sleep?

Alan, Mine most definitely has both Low and High Beam

Is there the remotest possibility that the extra heat generated by these bulbs will affect the front lens. Before I get "mogged", I fitted a set to my old celica and the plastic bubbled. If all is well I think I'll get a set. If I remember my wiring I can run these from the high current side from a single relay yes?

Another task to perform before the nights draw in!

My lenses are fine and the bulbs have been installed for months

Bear in mind your lenses will be cooled by wind whilst riding

There is a big difference between these 2 bulbs.
One is HID (High Intensity Discharge) and requires Ballasts to run each bulb.
The other is a standard Halogen style bulb that uses Xenon gas as well as the Iodine/Bromine mix in normal Halogen bulbs.
This gives longer life and a bluer colour but I find most of these claims for 90%, 120% etc more light to be rubbish. Bluer yes, and maybe 50% more light.

HIDs on the other hand use less power (30-35W for a bulb that puts twice as much light out as a 55W Halogen filament bulb) and can be colour tuned by varying the gas composition and arc voltage. Hence the ability to buy HIDs at various colour temperatures.

I find the headlights on the 1400 to be excellent but I have fitted some high intensity bulbs (can't remember the brand) as one of the originals burned out high-beam. If I were to upgrade I would probably go with the HIDs as they run cooler, provide more light and use less power. Yes, they weigh more with the ballasts but I don't think the 1400 would notice the difference.
I would go with 3500K or 4000K as I hate the blue tint headlights.

Finally, before you start upgrading bulbs and stuff, have you considered getting your headlights properly adjusted?
Most of them are miles off and getting them adjusted right makes a HUGE difference.

I reckon your wrong and you didn't get these above, how do I know this, because I bought some and there H7 bulbs not H4 and don't fit, luckily there ok for my BMW so all is not lost, but that link is incorrect.

Hmmm!

Just ordered some bi-xenon H4-3 for my bike too. Also got some 8SMB leds for the side lights. All 6000K.

I'm looking forward to learning how to disassemble the bike to fit it all!
